PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch joined by THIS new console in 2019

A new console is set to join the pack being led by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in 2019.

The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch are undoubtedly the biggest consoles around.

And with 2019 well underway many gamers are awaiting news on what comes next with rumours swirling about the PS5, Xbox Scarlett and Nintendo Switch Mini.

News about the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett is expected this year, but ahead of these reveals a new system is set to launch.

And the latest console hitting gamers’ living rooms offers something very different to the current systems from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.

Fans of retro games are in for a treat as the highly anticipated Polymega console is gearing up for a launch.

Hype surrounding the Polymega has been building for some time, with gamers rushing to get pre-orders when they opened last year.

For those not in the know, the Polymega offers something very different to the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Instead of offering current-gen graphics, the Polymega looks to gaming’s past and is an all-in-one system for retro game lovers.

The Polymega is a modular console which plays titles from a tonne of classic systems.

Modules can be swapped out to support original NES, SNES, Mega Drive and PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 carts.

The Polymega base unit also boasts a CD drive which plays PlayStation One, Neo Geo CD, Mega CD, Sega Saturn and PC Engine CD / TurboGrafx-16 CD games.

The Polymega is region free meaning CD and cart games from any region can be played on the console.

The console also boasts a slick user interface and will play classic games in glorious HD.

And the wait for the Polymega is almost over, with the console set to launch soon.

The Polymega Twitter has said a big update on the progress of the console is due this month.

This is ahead of the console’s expected release date in April this year, according to a post by Nintendo Life.

The first gamers to get the Polymega will be those who pre-ordered it, with it available during the pre-order period at a discount price of $249.99.

Elemental module sets, which support a console’s original controller and comes with Polymega’s own version of it, cost $59.99 each.

If you missed out on the pre-order period then the Polymega will be available to purchase through “select retailers” in 2019.
