Captain Marvel box office BREAKS records: BIGGEST opening day after Avengers Infinity War?

Released in the UK yesterday, Larson’s Captain Marvel looks set for a huge box office opening weekend. This news comes even despite the trolls who have been giving a poor audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Screen Daily, Captain Marvel’s early Thursday opening in some international territories has seen it take $98.7 million globally. This makes it the highest March debut and is likely to be the biggest MCU movie opening day second only to Avengers Infinity War.

Forbes adds that its $21 million domestic Thursday makes it the biggest preview on that day of the week ever for a female-led comic book superhero movie.

While Screen Daily’s Disney sources claim Captain Marvel is pacing ahead of the $1 billion Black Panther in most territories.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports the MCU movie is tracking for a $160 million domestic opening weekend after a $62 million opening Friday.

While this isn’t as huge as Black Panther’s four day $241.9 million last year, it’s still a huge feat for Captain Marvel.

However, Avengers Endgame is set to make a whopping $282 million.

No doubt Avengers Endgame will make even more and may even top Star Wars The Force Awakens’ $2.068 billion.

Captain Marvel is set to feature in the Marvel epic next month too, following her end credits’ scene.

Captain Marvel is out now, and Avengers Endgame is released in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019.
