Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Viewers in uproar as audience chooses BIZARRE answer

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire returned to ITV earlier this evening with the final show of the series.

Jeremy Clarkson was back in the hosting seat and joining him for the second half of the episode was contestant Katie Chambers.

After using one lifeline in an earlier round, she came stuck when asked the following question: “The flute belongs to which section of an orchestra?”

Answers were: A. Woodwind, B. String, C. Brass or D. Percussion, and Katie decided to ask the audience.

The results were gathered and a staggering 84 per cent opted for answer A. Woodwind.

However, eagle eyed viewers were quick to spot how 2 per cent of the audience had chosen answer B. String.

And many watching at home were confused as to why so many people thought a flute belonged to the string family.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the matter, one asked: “How did 2 per cent think the Flute was a string instrument?? #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

“Two per cent said string. P***takers #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” someone commented.

A third added: “Okay, which one of you 2 per cent said that a flute was part of the strings in orchestra? #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

“I would like to know who and why someone put strings for the flute #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” a Tweet read.

Another wrote: “Not sure I would like to meet the member of the audience who said the flute was a string instrument #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

“Who thinks that a flute has strings? #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” one asked.

Nevertheless Katie came under fire for not knowing the answer herself.

“She doesn’t know flute is woodwind WTF! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire,” an outraged viewer said.

Another exclaimed: “She knows the hard questions but not what a flute is! Mind boggles #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

But her lack of instrumental knowledge did not hold her back from winning some money.

Katie walked away with £125,000, which although is an impressive sum of money, it wasn’t the highest won that evening.

Before her, 21-year-old Christopher a graduate from Cambridge rattled through the questions.

He was successful in winning a staggering £250,000.

When Jeremy asked the young man what he was going to do with the prize, he said: “Visit a lot of places I’ve never been before.”

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
