Vodafone news as more customers set for a radical speed boost THIS YEAR

Vodafone has just revealed more news about its 5G rollout with 19 towns and cities about to get access to this ultimate technology.

The mobile network had already revealed that seven cities including London and Manchester would get access to 5G in 2019 but we now know which other areas are about to be treated to faster speeds.

Vodafone says it will be launching 5G in Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington and Wolverhampton this year.

And the firm will also be launching 5G in Newbury, the original home of Vodafone and the location of its technology headquarters.

5G promises device speeds around 10 times faster than 4G, meaning high-quality 4K video calls and downloads will be delivered even quicker to smartphones and tablets.

Data transfer of less than 20 milliseconds will be standard, which is great news for mobile users like gamers, who up until now have had to rely on home broadband when playing online.

Vodafone UK Chief Technology Officer Executive Scott Petty said: “Our multi-billion-pound network investment and leading position in setting global standards will ensure our customers have the very latest 5G releases and technology.

“5G will also usher in a new era where everyone and everything is better connected, whether you are running a hotel in Portsmouth or broadcasting live at MediaCity in Salford.”

Vodafone recently announced its first live trial.

The UK mobile network has just switched on this super fast service at Manchester airport with travellers able to give it try by visiting Vodafone’s special 5G ‘blast pod’.

With Vodafone announcing this news, it seems the race for 5G is now well on truly on and customers could see a rapid expansion of this network

Vodafone and O2 recently announced that they plan to extend the existing network sharing partnership term and include new 5G technology at joint radio network sites.

This, they say, will enable them to deploy 5G faster and to offer 5G services to more customers over a wider geographic area, and to do so at a lower cost.

EE recently announced that it will be launching this fast technology across the UK later this year with 16 cities getting access to 5G.
