PUBG Mobile UPDATE: Tencent confirm new Zombies DLC and Club Open event

It’s been a busy week for PUBG Mobile fans, what with new content being released and the announcement of a fresh eSports event.

For those that don’t know, PUBG Mobile was recently updated with a new Zombies Mode, which is a crossover with the Resident Evil franchise.

Survive till Dawn drops hordes of the undead shambling onto the game’s Erangel battleground, along with special boss battles.

And this week has seen Tencent add to the current content available on Android and iOS platforms with new character cosmetics.

New content focusing on classic characters from Resident Evil 2 can be unlocked in PUBG Mobile, a message from Tencent reveal.

Players can customise their avatar with the Ada Wong and Marvin costumes or change their appearances with the Leon and Claire Skin Sets.

There is also new stuff available to those PUBG Mobile players on iOS, with players now able to win two exclusive items: A Resident Evil themed frying pan and an Elite Operatives suit to turn their avatar into a zombie-fighting hero.

This new Zombies content is available now and will remain available for as long as the new mode remains playable.

Tencent has also announced that a new update is coming to PUBG Mobile that is a little less exciting.

It appears a new bug has appeared in-game stops doors opening automatically, with the development team revealing that they are currently working on a fix.

In other PUBG Mobile news, Tencent has announced a special eSports event with a lot of prize money attached.

Semi-pro and pro players from around the world will be able to squad-up this Spring and Fall in the largest PUBG Mobile esports event ever.

Named the Club Open 2019, the new eSports event will offer players the chance to earn a slice of the $2,000,000 prize pool throughout 2019.

Sign-ups begin on tomorrow, March 8, with all those participating requiring to be at least the rank of Platinum at the end of the prior season.

Here’s more from Tencent Games, who confirmed in a new statement: “PMCO 2019 will be divided into Spring Split and Fall Split, each with separate prize pool and a Global Finals. The Spring Split Global Finals will take place in July 2019.

“The PMCO 2019 arrives on the heels of 2018’s PUBG MOBILE STAR CHALLENGE 2018, a worldwide circuit of tournaments that saw more than 230 million online views and over 5,000 attendees onsite at the finals in Dubai. Thai-based team RRQ Athena took home the Global Championship, claiming $200,000 USD.”
