Final Fantasy 7 Remake UPDATE: Shock news ahead of major Square Enix release date

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is one of the most highly anticipated games on the horizon.

The return to Midgar was announced back during E3 2015 with a gameplay trailer revealed later that year at PSX.

But since then news on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been few and far between, with only a handful of new screenshots released in 2017.

However fans are hoping that 2019 will be the year that Square Enix breaks the radio silence on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

And there have been signs that this year could see major Final Fantasy 7 Remake news revealed.

In an issue of Famitsu at the end of 2018, FF7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase were asked about their plans for 2019.

Nomura-san teased that his keyword for 2019 would be “seven” while Kitase-san said his buzzword would be “long-awaited”.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer added: “Development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake is progressing smoothly!

“I would like to try hard to meet the expectations of fans”.

While a recent investor briefing from Square Enix has led to further speculation that news on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be inbound soon.

As revealed on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Reddit page, Square Enix said they’re expecting a big jump in revenue towards the end of 2019.

This could be a sign a major release is on the cards for the final few months of the year.

Square Enix also said they’re set to make “various announcements in the lead-up to this year’s E3”.

This has added more weight to rumours that a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Uncovered event could take place in April.

This rumour originated on notorious internet message board 4chan, and a user on the site has once again posted about the FF7 Remake.

It’s been claimed the Square Enix Twitter page accidentally posted a teaser for a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Uncovered event before quickly deleting it.

It’s been claimed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Uncovered event will take place on April 3 2019.

The rumour was highlighted in a post on the FF7 Remake Reddit, but the majority of users of that subreddit believe it’s a fake.

One user posted: “Probably fake, not sure why they would post something as big as this and then delete it. Still I’ll be keeping an eye out on April 3rd.”

Another wrote: “It’s fake. I doubt they’d use the same logotype as FFXV’s uncovered event. Not to mention the word ‘Remake’ isn’t even on there.”

While one added: “I have Square’s Twitter on auto-alert for every new tweet. This never happened.”

And one wrote: “A lot of marketing has to do with specific timing.

“They might’ve passed the materials along and tweeted mistakenly while prepping marketing materials (usually prep is done on all social media this way so they can post simultaneously to all their respective accounts to make the biggest splash).

“What I’m saying is, it’s plausible, but I’d still take it with a large grain of salt, which should probably be just a rock for as large as it should be”.

A port of Final Fantasy 7 is coming to both the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on March 26 2019.
