Avengers Endgame theory: Survivors will DESTROY Infinity Stones in the past

Next month the long-awaited sequel to Avengers Infinity War lands. From the first two trailers, it’s certainly clear that the survivors of Thanos’ Snap have a plan to reverse it. But whatever that plan is has had fans speculating to the max. One of the most popular theories is that Avengers Endgame will see the survivors time travel through the Quantum Realm to past MCU movies.

There they will collect or somehow copy the Infinity Stones, create their own Infinity Gauntlet and undo Thanos’ evil scheme.

However, a new theory reckons they will in fact totally destroy the Infinity Stones in the past.

Reddit user davidlyncheyebrow reckons Captain Marvel will be powerful enough to do this to each stone.

They point out that this means if one gem is destroyed then it will be erased from Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet in the future – so he’ll try to stop the Avengers.

Essentially he can travel back in time too as long as he has the Time Stone.

And of course, he can rebuild destroyed gems, just as he did with Vision’s Mind Stone in Avengers Infinity War.

But if the Avengers focus on obliterating the Time Stone, then Thanos will be in big trouble.

However, to obtain the Soul Stone they will need to travel to Vormir and someone must sacrifice one they love for it – just as Thanos did with Gamora.

Our own theory is that this will be when Captain America pushes Tony Stark.

It would be so fitting for him to die as a sacrifice here, following his long character development arc that began in 2008’s Iron Man.

While it would be the best ending for Steve Rogers to be sent back to dance with Peggy Carter and live a full, happy life with her.

Avengers Endgame is released in UK cinemas on April 25, 2019.
