Lakers news: Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant AND Klay Thompson told to join LeBron James

The Lakers are expected to pursue big signings this summer to team them up with James in LA.

Luke Walton’s side almost signed Anthony Davis before the trade deadline last month, however, the New Orleans Pelicans refused to agree a deal.

The Lakers will pursue Davis again this summer, with the big man intent on leaving New Orleans to challenge for NBA championships.

There are numerous superstars who can become free agents this summer, with Irving, Durant, Thompson and Kawhi Leonard possibly on the move.

And 2 Chainz, who recently worked on his album with James titled ‘Rap or Go to the League’, has urged Irving, Durant and Thompson to join the Lakers.

“I think Kyrie’s leaving,” he said on Fox Sports’ The Undisputed.

“KD can kind of do what he wants to do. If they match up, that would be cool too.

“They should come to the Lakers. That’s what showtime is about now.

“What happens is LeBron gets to rest some nights and still average triple doubles.

“I feel like he can take the point guard position.

“Kyrie called him and apologised. Lets finish what we started.

“KD’s not the one person in Golden State I feel could leave. Klay needs his own I think.

“Leave Klay, leave. Come to the Lakers Klay. Klay to the Lakers.”

James and the Lakers look set to miss out on the playoffs this season after injuries ruined their campaign.

The Lakers are five and a half games outside the Western Conference playoffs.
