‘Kate is the winner in this round’: How Duchesses hashed out their royal FEUD yesterday

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are two of the most watched women in the world and their style inspires many.

While British-born Kate plumps for elegance, Meghan is admired for her fashion forward approach.

The LA-born actress has caused brands to sell out of items instantly after she wore their clothing.

How did their style compare last night and who came out on top in the style stakes?

A stylist claimed Kate was the “winner” with her pale blue dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s dress nodded to a bygone British era known for another famous queen.

Lauren Jobling told Express.co.uk: “Kate opted for a regal, Victoriana style dress which offers quite a feminine, but slightly older look.”

The mother-of-three kept the look modern with some clever styling, Lauren added.

“To make it more contemporary and add some height at the same time, she’s added high court shoes which the dress definitely needed to stop it from looking frumpy.

“It’s a similar cut to the Alessandra Rich dress she wore for Prince Charles’ 70th portrait. Long sleeved, nipped at the waist, then fluid at the skirt.”

According to a royal expert Kate’s dress was made by a private dressmaker.

Royal correspondent Emily Andrews said on her Twitter account: “Lovely pic by @domlipinski of the Queen and Prince of Wales, with Camilla (in Bruce Oldfield), Kate (apparently dress by private dressmaker), Wills, Harry & Meghan. The Queen looks imperial in purple by Stuart Parvin.”

Meghan, on the other hand, wore a metallic gold and silver foil dress, yet to be identified.

The Duchess of Sussex is sporting an enormous baby bump and is thought to be due imminently, but this didn’t stop her showing off some leg.

Lauren said: “Meghan followed suit in regards to colour palette, but that was all! Her shift style dress offers a little more interest in design and sits above the knee which is a little more daring.

“The coat adds a touch of her usual architectural style that she likes and adds a slightly 60s vibe to the whole ensemble. Finished with a lower heel to accommodate the shorter hem.”

“For me, I think Meghan looked lovely albeit a little mother of the bride, and Kate looked as elegant and as poised as always. Kate is the winner in this round!”

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton attended the reception with their respective partners, but body language hinted at a frosty social scene.

Judi James described Meghan and her baby-bump as “put in the corner” and Prince Harry as “grim-faced”.

Meghan Markle wore a £99,000 outfit in Morocco recently, which Lauren said was a bid to “convey modesty prior to the birth”.

Meghan wore a bespoke golden Dior gown, with flowing sleeves and added embellishment detail.
