Carol Kirkwood: BBC Breakfast reporter 'gutted' as she misses out on golden opportunity

Carol Kirkwood received an unexpected video message from a huge celebrity, who happened to pop by the BBC Breakfast studio. Bryan Adams, a Canadian singer-songwriter, who the meteorologist is a big fan of asked where she was in the footage shared on Twitter. In the short clip, a framed picture of Carol is seen standing on a desk before the camera panned to the I Do It For You crooner. Speaking to camera, 59-year-old Bryan, questioned: “Carol, where are you?” before a mischievous smile swept his face.

“I came all the way to the Beeb and you’re not here!” he stated.

The video uploaded by the official BBC Breakfast account on March 5 was captioned: “Hey @carolkirkwood, someone’s been looking for you this morning @bryanadams.”

Responding to the cheeky post, Carol replied: “Nooooooooo! GUTTED,” followed by a series of crying face emojis.

Fans of the star were quick to question why she was not at the studio to greet the hitmaker.

One person tweeted: “Oh Carol how could you stand Bryan up?” as another said: “I would be crying too.”

A third admirer gushed: “Carol you are a legend and so is Bryan!” while a fourth penned: “Oh bless – Carol will love this!”

Although Carol missed out on the opportunity to meet Bryan yesterday, she has been introduced to the singer before.

In fact, she was left starstruck by the Summer of ’69 hitmaker when he made an appearance on BBC Breakfast a few years ago.

“I love him,” she swooned in an interview with Radio Times in 2013.

“He was a guest on [BBC] Breakfast and I wanted to say hello, but I couldn’t pluck up the courage.”

She recounted: “Eventually I did, but I was so nervous I could hardly speak. He was so lovely as well.”

During the interview, the radio presenter also admitted to having a crush on a Hollywood actor and singer.

When the weather reporter was asked who her TV crush was, she named David Soul, 75, as her favourite.

The 56-year-old TV personality revealed: “David Soul when he played Hutch in Starsky and Hutch.”

She went on to say: “I was on The One Show once as a guest and met him.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
