BBC News: 'Absolutely don’t!’ Naga Munchetty HORRIFIED by Dan Walker’s naked jibe

Naga, 43, and Dan, 41, were joined by sports journalist Sally Nugent, 47, on the BBC Breakfast sofa as the trio discussed England’s recent success in the sporting arena, a day after Dan returned to the show.

Dan was back presenting the BBC news programme following his recent venture to Tanzania where he and a number of other famous faces climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief, completing the trek last Friday.

However, having missed the show on Monday as he was re-cooperating from his East African venture, Dan revealed to his two colleagues his days were out of sync therefore he had forgotten to wear a waistcoat for today’s Wednesday edition of the show.

Traditionally, Dan has been known to wear a waistcoat when he appears as a host on a Wednesday, a custom he has stuck by since the England men’s football team had success in last year’s World Cup with manager Gareth Southgate donning a waistcoat as a good luck charm during the tournament.

However, Naga didn’t pick up on the mistake until Sally addressed the issue as the presenter doesn’t usually host the show on a Wednesday, with Dan admitting: “I’ve had a few issues. Because I wasn’t on on Monday, I was convinced it was Tuesday.”

Sally joked: “Happens to me all the time,” referring to having her days of the week thrown out of sync, with Dan adding: “Therefore, I haven’t got a waistcoat on today.”

Explaining the tradition to Naga, Dan said: “I like to keep the standards upon waistcoat Wednesday but I failed today,” with his co-host remarking: “I didn’t get that memo, but that’s okay.”

Sally went on to add: “He wears a waistcoat on a Wednesday, should’ve worn one today,” to which Dan declared: “Naga’s not normally on on a Wednesday,” revealing to Sally and the audience why his co-host was confused by the discussion.

“I’m not normally on,” Naga admitted, with Dan adding: “Wouldn’t expect her to know.”

Naga commented: “It’s not my day, it’s not my day. Wednesday is a lie in day usually,” the presenter continued, to which Dan joked: “You want to see naked Tuesdays.”

Bursting into laughter at Dan’s comment, Sally remarked: “You don’t,” with Naga reiterating: “I can tell you right now, you don’t. Absolutely don’t.”

As Naga tried to continue with the rest of the show, handing over to the weather presenter Matt Taylor, 42, Dan reassured the audience there was no such thing as naked Tuesdays.

“Only in Dan’s world,” Naga remarked, before turning to Matt and saying: “Let’s talk to Matt, fully clothed and I imagine we need to be today,” referring to the upcoming weather forecast.

Dan made another revelation late on in the show, which left Naga shocked once again when her co-host admitted he wold eat a pancake flipped on the foot of footballer John Terry, 38, when Sally showed the presenters a video of the former England captain making pancakes.

Dan told his colleagues: “I know we have a little debate about this, I would definitely eat that,” to which Naga exclaimed: “Off John Terry’s toe?”

Dan continued: “I’d eat it off my own foot, I’d even eat it off John Terry’s toe,” to which Naga replied: “I think that says something else.”

As the debate continued, Dan said: “Your toes are probably more hygienic than your hands,” with Sally bursting into laughter after the remark.

Stunned by Dan’s admission, Naga was less than impressed, questioning her co-host: “In general life, how often do you wash your toes before you make dinner?”

Before Dan could give an answer, Sally jumped in to add Terry was making the pancake for his wife, with the host revealing he didn’t think there was a problem with the unusual cooking method.

On yesterday’s edition of the show, Dan’s co-host Louise Minchin, 50, was left stunned by the presenter’s near-death story from his venture of Mount Kilimanjaro.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
