Vivo Apex was launched in MWC 2018 last year as a concept phone. The phone had a full view display with a notch-less and bezel-less design. And one-third of the Vivo Apex fullview display acted as the fingerprint sensor, which happens to be the underneath the display. And to achieve that fullview display, the phone adopted the pop-up selfie camera. Vivo Apex selfie camera used to pop-up when the camera is switched to front camera on its camera UI. But things have been different on the latest device, which has been named as Vivo Apex 2019 (some people also called it Vivo Apex 2).
Going by the Vivo Apex 2019 specs, the smartphone looks really intriguing. And we have dearly praised the device in this Vivo Apex 2 first look video. The smartphone comes with the latest and powerful Snapdragon 855 chipset backed by 12GB of RAM. On the storage side of things, the handset boasts a whopping 512GB of onboard storage. But there is no SD card slot to expand the storage further. But given the amount of memory provided on the device, there might not be any need for that as well. With this setup, there may not be any need to perform a rigorous Vivo Apex 2019 gaming test. The phone can easily handle everything thrown at it.
We saw the same RAM and processor combo in the Lenovo Z5 Pro as well. So we can also expect the Vivo Apex 2019 benchmarks to beat the benchmarks of iPhone XS as well. This is just a prediction. We have to perform an in-depth Vivo Apex 2019 review (Vivo Apex 2 review) to check how the handset really fares. So till our review, stay tuned to our channel.
On the display front, the Vivo Apex 2019 features a sharp and vibrant Super AMOLED panel. And unlike the last year’s Vivo, the whole panel of the Vivo Apex 2019 display doubles as a fingerprint sensor. Vivo names this technology as a Full-display Scanning technology. And talking about the sensitivity and accuracy, the sensor is said to register and unlock the device faster than last year’s model.
But sadly, the Vivo Apex 2019 doesn’t have a selfie camera. Unlike the last year’s model, Vivo Apex 2019 selfie camera is not in a pop-up style. From what we saw on the Vivo Apex 2019 launch event, Vivo Apex 2019 front camera looks completely nonexistent. That’s not all, Vivo has also given up from all sorts of ports or holes. You might be wondering about the Vivo Apex 2019 charging port. Well, that’s been replaced by MagPort – a magnetic power connector which enables faster charging and faster data transfer.
But luckily, the phone hasn’t given up in its rear cameras. The phone comes with a dual camera setup at the back, which enjoys the company of a 12MP sensor backed by a 13MP sensor. The quality and the features of the camera on the device is still under the veil. So, we really have to perform an in-depth Vivo Apex 2019 camera test to find that out.
The event in China was more or less of an announcement so many features of the device are still under the veil. Vivo has said to announce the Vivo Apex 2019 full specification in the MWC 2019. So we will know about the complete details about the device after that official launch. And the Vivo Apex 2019 launch date is said to be February 28th.
Recently Meizu also launched a similar type of phone with absolutely zero holes. And a day later Vivo also launched a similar type of phone. But going by the specs and performing the rough Vivo Apex 2019 vs Meizu Zero comparison, we found the Apex 2019 to be better. Which one of the two aforementioned devices is better in your opinion? Please let us know in the comments.
