Former Big Breakfast presenter Gail Porter has broken her silence on the tragic news of her former boyfriend, Keith Flint’s death. In view of her 126,000 Twitter followers, she simply wrote: “Heartbroken.” The former FHM model used to date the Prodigy frontman from 1999 to 2000 before she went on to marry Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave in 2001. Speaking to the Mirror in 2007, Gail revealed she was “beside” herself following their break-up.
She told the publication: “When I broke up with my ex-boyfriend Keith Flint I was beside myself.
”And when my marriage to Dan Hipgrave ended in divorce I was devastated.”
The former couple were dubbed “Beauty and the Beast” due to their difference in appearance, according to the same publication.
The pair met through their pal Sara Cox but called it quits a year later.
The Prodigy vocalist went on to marry Japanese DJ Mayumi Kai in 2006, who he credits for saving him from a rockstar lifestyle.
Keith told The Times in 2009 how the pair met, saying: “We were touring and she just walked into this room we were in, and you know how it is, I just couldn’t talk, I was overwhelmed.
“I’d done my share of drugs and sh****g around.
“Look, we all like to get busy, but in truth I was a bit worn through with it.”
Keith also referred to his wife as “beautiful, f***ing cool”.
The pair wed at a star-studded ceremony in 2006 attended by Liam Gallagher, Busted star Matt Willis and Liza Minnelli’s former husband David Gest.
Mayum is a Japanese DJ and music producer, signed to Universal Music, who also models.
Keith was found dead at his home in Essex earlier today.
Police confirmed the unresponsive man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A message on The Prodigy’s website said: “It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother Keith Flint who sadly took his own life over the weekend.”
Keith’s bandmate Liam Howlett later took to the official Prodigy Instagram page, writing: “The news is true, I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend.
“I’m shell shocked, f***in angry, confused and heartbroken… r.i.p brother Liam #theprodigy.”
