How Keith Flint went from dancer to UK sensation with Firestarter

Keith Flint started his career in the late 1980’s, after meeting DJ Liam Howlett at a local rave club.

After receiving a mixtape from his future bandmate, Flint came back insisting Howlett should be playing his tracks on stage while himself and Leeroy Thornhill would dance to them.

Flint stayed on as the band’s dancer until 1996, when he featured as the vocalist on the hit single Firestarter.

The song sold more than 600,000 copies in the UK alone.

In the video accompanying the number one hit, Flint showcased his new punk look, a trend he continued with the next single Breathe – another top hit in the UK.

Flint also performed the lead vocals on this hit, which was the second single from the album The Fat of the Land.

On the 1997 album, Flint also contributed as a vocalist on tracks including Serial Thrilla and Fuel My Fire.
