Joe Harris performs humiliating ‘ankle breaker’ on Luka Doncic as Nets beat Mavericks

Doncic had a moment to forget in the opening minute of the game at the Barclays Center when he was sent tumbling to the ground after Harris used a timely shot fake to make the 20-year-old Slovenian overcommit.

The 27-year-old Nets forward then coolly dribbled past the youngster to make an open jump shot and give the Nets a 4-0 lead.

Doncic managed to redeem some of his blushes, when he demonstrated his talents at the closing moments of the half.

With the Mavericks down 64-44 and with 5.2 seconds left on the clock, Doncic took possession of the ball and nailed a half-court shot at the buzzer to demonstrate his impressive shooting abilities.

The teenager is enjoying an excellent first season in the NBA and he is currently averaging 21 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Unfortunately for Dallas fans Doncic’s contributions weren’t enough to help inspire the Mavericks to victory as they lost 127-88 on Monday night.

DeMarre Carroll led the scoring for the Nets with a season-high 22 points as six Brooklyn players finished the game in double digits for scoring.

Harris finished the night on 11 points, two rebounds and two assists as the Nets recorded their most lopsided victory since moving from New Jersey in 2012.

The win put an end to the Nets’ three-game losing streak as they dominated the Mavericks in most facets of the game.

Brooklyn shot 56.5 per-cent compared to the Mavericks’ 35.6 per-cent while they also out rebounded Dallas 48-36 and outscored them 56-22 in the paint.

Mavericks center Dwight Powell led the scoring for Dallas with 20 points followed by Doncic on 16, who also added six rebounds and a single assist before the game ended.

Dallas, who suffered their eighth loss in nine games, are now on a two-game losing streak and sit in the bottom half of the Western Conference with 19 games remaining of the regular season.

Brooklyn led the opening quarter 31-21 before extending their lead at half-time.

In the third Dallas made a slight dent into the Nets’ lead, getting within 79-63 after a dunk by Dorian Finney-Smith with 6:09 left on the clock.

Brooklyn countered by outscoring Dallas 20-10 the rest of the quarter and took a 99-73 lead into the fourth.

In the final quarter with the contest pretty much over, the crowd were left waiting to see if Dirk Nowitzki would score.

The 40-year-old veteran, who is expected to retire at the end of this season, was greeted by loud cheers in pre-game introductions and each time he touched the ball by the entire crowd in the arena.

And the legendary German did not fail to deliver as he finished the game with four points, four rebounds and two assists in what is possibly his final game in Brooklyn.

Nowitzki was met with a warm reception from the crowd, who gave him a standing ovation when he checked out with 1:42 left on the clock.

Next up for the Nets are the Cleveland Cavaliers who they host in Brooklyn while the Mavericks travel to the Capital One Arena to face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
