Sunday Brunch host Tim Lovejoy teases Strictly Come Dancing gig: ‘Done deal’

Tim Lovejoy’s Sunday Brunch co-host Simon Rimmer, 55, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and it seems the star is ready to follow in his friend’s footsteps.

The Channel 4 show tweeted a video of Tim showing off some dance moves and wrote: “Just waiting for that phone call from @BBCStrictly aren’t you @TImLovejoy?”

Tim, 50, added fuel to the fire that he is set to compete on the BBC One show later this year as he quoted the message and said: “Done deal.”

Simon appeared to show his support for Tim to go on the dancing competition by retweeting his post.

Many of the former Soccer AM presenter’s 656,000 followers also want to see the star join the line-up.

One person replied: “I think you’d be brilliant from watching your moves on Sunday Brunch xx.”

Another was positive and said: “Tim would smash it!”

A third added: “Blackpool here you come.”

Simon appeared on Strictly Come Dancing two years ago partnered up with Karen Clifton, 36.

The pair were eliminated in the sixth week of the competition, which saw Joe McFadden and Katya Jones crowned champion.

Simon recently spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the BBC One series where he admitted he “loved” being a part of the show.

He spilled: “It’s genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life.”

But Simon admitted it’s “hard” being a past contestant as he feels as if he’s being “cheated on” when his professional partner got a new celebrity.

“The really hard thing is all the pro dancers were amazing, and when you start and everyone’s together, but then you see them dancing with someone else and you feel like they’re cheating on you!

“The first time I saw Karen having little private jokes with Charles [Venn] this year, I’m thinking, how dare you?”

He joked: ”I thought I was special. It’s just a holiday romance you don’t care, you’re just happily in the arms of someone else.”

But there isn’t bad blood between him and Karen as the chef revealed they’re still in touch.

“I’m still friends with Karen, I speak to her on a really regular basis,” he spilled.

Divulging more about his former co-stars, Simon said: “I’m great friends with Gemma [Atkinson], and Mollie [King] as well.”

He continued: “You become a member of one of the loveliest private members club, and when you meet people from other years, they have that same thing, it’s almost like being a mason.”

Sunday Brunch airs Sundays on Channel 4 at 9.30am.
