PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch free game UPDATE

Warframe just received a very exciting update that could prove very popular with new players and old.

Now available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, it’s the perfect excuse to download the looter shooter.

Warframe is available for free and continues to receive new updates and content, like the earlier Fortuna expansions.

This week saw Digital Extremes release Nightwave on all platforms, and its first episode – The Wolf of Saturn Six.

Nightwave is different from other past updates as it comes in the form of a new ongoing radio broadcast that provides fresh, story-infused gameplay.

Players simply need to turn on their Orbiter Scanners to access new challenges, collect exclusive rewards, gear and cosmetics.

Nora Night, the host of the new broadcast, will be offering daily and weekly challenges much like what fans will have come to expect from a Battle Pass.

And what makes Nightwave even more special is that it is one of the first updates to be released simultaneously across all systems.

This means gamers on Steam PC are receiving this free new content on the same day as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

It should be noted that while this new content and Warframe are free to download, some platforms require additional subscriptions.

If you want to play on Xbox One, you need Xbox Live Gold, and if you play on Nintendo Switch, you need an Online subscription.

However, if you’re playing this free game on PS4, you do not require a PS Plus subscription.

Here’s more from Digital Extremes on the new Nightwave content: “Tenno listening to Nightwave will experience the rebellious, smoky, smooth allure of host Nora Night, the mysterious character whose rogue radio transmissions kick off the first series today with episode one of The Wolf of Saturn Six.

“Players will discover new enemies and backstory and earn unique rewards to upgrade their Arsenal as they rise through the Reward Tiers.

“Nightwave rewards are both exclusive and time sensitive: Players can only get them during the duration of the Series. They range from Power items such as Orokin Catalysts, Wolf Cred (a new currency used to shop through Nightwave Cred Offerings containing former Alert System rewards), sought-after Weapon/Warframe slots and highly coveted Forma Bundles, while exclusive, time-sensitive Cosmetics include an Armor Set, Syandana, and Noggle, among other items.

“Once the first series The Wolf of Saturn Six reaches its conclusion, a new one will begin, with an all-new storyline, incentives and exclusive rewards specific to it.”

For new players, Warframe and its latest update will download in the same file, meaning you can jump straight in after it has completed.

For those who are lapsed Tenno, you can update your game now to get access to the new content.

But there is also a special bonus being made available on just one platform this week.

It has been confirmed by Digital Extremes that players on Nintendo Switch who download The Wolf of Saturn Six update will also earn access to TennoGen skins, Digital Extremes-approved, community-created content.

For those that don’t know, TennGen is cosmetic stuff designed by fans, for fans of Warframe.

This is made in a special program that is only available to use on PC, with the best quality skins and the ones voted by the community making it into the final cut.

The three bundles coming to Nintendo Switch include 19 skins in total, spread across 14 different Warframes.

For those that don’t know, Warframe is a free-to-play third-person action shooter that has evolved a lot since its initial release on PC.

Now available on a number of platforms, the game remains free to download and is supported by microtransactions and in-game currency.

It includes a number of different modes to try out and is expected to see further expansions announced in the coming months.
