Jenna Coleman has revealed “half [her] friends” are parents as she said whether she sees that in her own future. The Victoria actress, who is dating her co-star Tom Hughes, 32, suggested she doesn’t feel pressure to have a baby. The 32-year-old said she’d “love” to have children but not a big family like her ITV alter ego and late monarch Queen Victoria. In the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, she is pictured at Kensington Palace, where the ruler lived, which was the very first time a cover shoot had taken place there.
When asked about starting a family, Jenna commented: “Half of my friends have babies, and half don’t, so it doesn’t feel like a pressure.
“I want to take my time. There’s a whole lot more of the world for me to see first.”
She continued: “I’d love to have children one day. But not nine of them [Queen Victoria had nine children]. I can tell you that as a fact.”
When talk turned to her relationship, she stated: “I think it’s been very wise not to speak about it.”
Jenna went on to speak about what she does in her free time, saying: “I love touching base with normal life.
“I worked out that last year, I literally spent more time in other people’s clothes than in my own, but you’ve got to look after your own life, too, so you can come to work and bring some sense of reality to it.”
She ended by chatting about her latest project, playing a supporting role on stage in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons.
“I’ve definitely got the fear,” she added. “But it’s the good fear you get when you’re excited by something, and not quite sure you can do it.
“I went for the part because of the nuance. Things appear a certain way, but underneath, there are politics, and family dynamics and push and pull…”
Jenna was seen in a series of elaborate outfits for her accompanying shoot, one of which saw her pose with a King Charles Spaniel.
Flashing a sultry gaze at the camera, she was dressed in a long black gown, with full skirt and dramatic sleeve detailing.
Jenna also sported a bejewelled blue and beige dress, as she stared down at something out of shot.
The frock was adorned with bold, colourful gems, while her hair was worn down in a natural wave.
Her cover shot saw the beauty in a monochrome lace minidress, complete with an off-the-shoulder neckline and sheer sections.
The April issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is on sale Thursday, while Victoria season 3 is set to air later this year.
