Brian McFadden: Ex Kerry Katona backtracks on Dancing On Ice star after ’d**khead' jibe

Kerry Katona, 38, has revealed she is relieved she and her first husband Brian McFadden, 38, have a good friendship. The Celebs Go Dating star recently cheered him on from the studio audience as he appeared on ITV’s Dancing On Ice. Despite previously branding him a “d**khead”, the mother-of-five said she could not be happier for the Westlife star. She gushed about his performance on the figure skating competition and insisted he is “doing brilliant”.

In an interview with Loose Women last month, she said: “I went along a couple of weeks ago with all the children.

“He’s doing brilliant, and it’s so nice that we have that kind of relationship now.”

Kerry, who was married to the singer between 2002 and 2006, finished: “Brian was my first love.”

However, she has not always spoken so fondly of the Irishman and once called him a “d**khead” when he described marriage as “disposable”.

Writing in her New! Magazine column in January, she said: “He can be a right d***head, that ex-husband of mine.

“Brian went on Loose Women and said that marriage was ‘disposable’ and ‘just a party’.”

She continued: “I get it – he has a girlfriend and has to be respectful, but it was a weird thing to say considering he was married to me.

“He’s always going to be in my life and I wish him well, but my side of the story is very different.”

She concluded: “In my opinion, it was my favourite marriage and I’m not going to let him take that away from me.”

The singer has been married three times and has five children.

She and Brian are parents to Molly and Lilly, and she is currently appearing on the reality show Celebs Go Dating.

In a recent episode of the Channel 4 series, she cried about her failed marriage with the pop star.

Bursting into tears, she said: “The only time I was ever in love was my first husband. I look back now and think, ‘God we were so young, was it puppy love?

“Brian was the only love of my life and it went downhill from there. When Brian left me I didn’t want to be rich and famous I wanted to belong.”

Dancing On Ice continues tonight on ITV at 6pm.

Celebs Go Dating airs Sunday to Thursday on Channel 4 at 9pm.
