Transcript for Chloe Grace Moretz & Isabelle Huppert interview

Please, let’s try to start again. I love you. You don’t even know me. I tried to talk to you at trial. You wouldn’t listen. People can’t keep doing this to me. Oh my gosh. That right there was a little sneak peek from the upcoming thriller, “Greta,” starring our next two guests. Please welcome the lovely Isabelle Huppert and Chloe grace Moretz. Hello, ladies. Isabelle, nice to meet you. Hey. How are you doing? Come on. Hi. How are you? How are you? Come on over. Slide on over. Welcome, you two. Welcome. Thank you guys for being here. This looks creepy and we love thrillers, Michael and I. She likes scary. I — I — I was scared. We went to a bunch of screenings and Michael pretended he liked them and about six viewings in, he was, like, you know I don’t like these. I just come for you. That’s selfless. I get scared of the dark. Earlier — I do too. I do understand that. It’s creepy, but we were talking earlier about stating our case of our favorite movies and one was “Legally blonde”. Right. And I heard one of you is a big fan. Massively. Yeah. When I was a little girl, it was one of my favorite movies ever and I named my first dog bruiser. Yes. Little known fact. Reese Witherspoon shared once when she was here, the bruiser the dog came to her Hollywood star thing. Really? Take that with you guys. Trivia pursuit. Oh really? That’s all I wanted to know. Where is bruiser? Tell me everything about bruiser. Is bruiser okay? Yeah. The movie, “Greta,” sit a — it is a thriller, but I’m wondering what scares you two? Oh, so many things. So many things. Besides “Greta”. What scares me? Being locked in a lift for example. Elevators. A story, a girl was down locked for three days. Oh my god. J.I.C. Just in case. I got it. Elevators. Chloe, what scares you? Well, claustrophobia is definitely one thing, but honestly the dark is something that still really gets me. I get really spooked especially in hotels that I have never stayed in, and different places in the world. I get really spooked by dark corners, underneath the bed. I’m a child. I check hotel rooms still. No one has left behind in here. Exactly. Left behind? Where are you two staying? We never know. We’re not the only ones with a key to that room. I want to make sure no one is in there. I agree. I agree. I second that notion. But Isabelle, you are a French movie icon. Mm-hmm. And you are on Broadway, and Chloe, you have done everything. You have done comedies, you have done action films, but how does comedy, action and Broadway, how does that differ from doing a thriller? Well, I think this thriller is very special actually. I mean, because it’s a little bit of everything. It’s a thriller, but it’s also very funny. I mean, it’s a movie directed by this great Irish film maker, you know, who did “Conversation with a vampire” for example, or “The crying game,” these iconic movies and he was able to bring something very special, a flavor to the film. It’s not only a thriller, but it’s also a psychological study of this relationship between these two women. I mean, it’s really — it’s very deep and rich film, but it’s also very funny. That’s for sure. It’s wild. Some humor in it. Is it different from shooting, like, an action movie and then shooting something like this? Definitely I think, you know, it’s always, you know, we try to keep our basis in reality with our relationship that we build together, but, you know, there is moments where you’re doing some pretty raucous things or, you know, not to give things away, but there is a moment where an appendage is lost in the film and so we got to film — we got to film with some crazy prosthetics which is exciting and silly. So that stuff doesn’t happen in other movies. That’s just a thriller or horror film. Hopefully. Like a horror film. Whoa. And it is so true that sometimes things don’t — it doesn’t really change that much. You can change the music in a film, and it can just make so many — Horror fis aren’t at scary. Yeah. Here’s a quick clip from your movie. Check this out. ?????? Oh. Now I don’t know what’s going on, but when you do that, something’s about to go down. Something is about to happen, but we wanted to try a little something here. You can make that look and change the feeling of it. Can you do that? Can you make your look and then — The same look — Try it. You want us to try it? Yeah. We’ll judge you. We’ll both do it. Go ahead, guys. Let’s try a few — you read the first scenario and I’ll do the look and then we switch it up. You open the door and realize the killer is in the same room ?????? Oh. The slow motion. Okay. Okay. I don’t know the cure. You open the door to see that your friends have surprised you with a party. ?????? Happier. Happier. That’s the same look I did okay. When you open the door and find your significant other with someone else. It’s the same look. You have got to have a little more with your eyes. It’s the same look, but we change the scenario. It works with each one. I don’t know if it did. You guys can do the sequel. There was a famous experience with a great old Russian film maker who did this experience, you know, you had three completely different situations and three close-ups with the same expression, and the result of it was that, you know, no matter what was the situation, you had the same expression. It’s very easy being an actress actually, you know. Do it all the way. Repeat it over and over. I definitely know that’s not the case. It is not easy doing what you do. It is. I tell you. The movie is coming out in a few days. Tell us about it. Huh? Tell us about “Greta,” and about the movie. “Greta” is this story between these two women. One is very naive and very innocent and the other looks very naive and innocent, in fact, even more naive and innocent than the young one, but she reveals to be completely different from what she looks. I mean, she’s a — she’s really — Evil. Evil, yeah. A monster. Yeah. Oh. This is right up my alley. It’s right up your alley. She said raucous and evil. I’ll go with you. Can we? Yeah. I’ll go to the screening with you, and you both are so talented in everything you do. Is there a hidden talent or something you wish you could do that you can’t? I mean, mine is honestly kind of simple. I have been trying to juggle since I was really young and I still cannot accomplish it no matter how much I try. Girl. It’s my one thing. Oh my gosh. Here we go. We might have brought these just to show you. I’m so jealous. Can you juggle? You can juggle, can’t you? I know you can. Can you do it? How do you do it? You have to catch it and throw it. Figure eight. This is where we’re going with this.
