Modern Warfare 2 Remastered CONFIRMED for tenth anniversary of Call of Duty classic

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has been revealed by an unlikely source.

The much-rumoured Modern Warfare 2 remake has been rated by European certification board PEGI.

The PEGI listing has since been removed, but not before websites like PCGamer managed to grab a screenshot.

Earning an ’18’ age rating, it’s described as a “combat simulation game in which the player takes the roles of various members of a Special Operations team”.

Interestingly, however, the listing suggests that the release will be limited to the campaign only.

It’s possible the multiplayer will be released separately, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Likewise, it’s currently only listed for PS4, although an Xbox One release is sure to follow.

“Experience gripping and heart-racing action as you face off against a new threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse,” reads the official game description.

“Modern Warfare 2 picks up immediately following the historic events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the blockbuster title that earned worldwide critical acclaim.”

With the original game releasing in 2009, a 2019 release date would certainly make sense for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.

Not only is it the game’s tenth anniversary, but Modern Warfare is tipped to make a return with a brand new sequel this year.

Activision President Rob Kostich recently hyped the game in a chat with investors.

This year’s Call of Duty will once again feature a campaign, not to mention co-op and expansive multiplayer.

It’s been described as the best Call of Duty game yet, and is said to be creating a real buzz within the community.

The new Call of Duty is being developed by Infinity Ward, which is the same team behind the Modern Warfare series.
