Tesla Model 3 NEWS – Entry level ‘affordable’ Model 3 electric car finally launches

Tesla has finally launched the entry-level Model 3 which will be a huge relief to reservation holders across the world.

The carmaker has managed to get to a level of production where they can manufacture the ‘affordable’ Model 3 for the first time.

This is a landmark moment for the Californian electric car firm after many EV sceptics wrote them off. The announcement was made today 2 PM California time which is 10 PM in the UK. The carmaker dropped a huge hint by freezing Model 3 orders earlier this evening, leading to speculation that the cheaper Model 3 was set to launch.

According to Electrek, Customers are going to be able to order the $35,000 Model 3 with a standard interior and 220-mile battery pack today. There will also be a Partial Premium Interior upgrade costing $2,000 offering better seats and a different battery pack.  This Standard Range Plus battery pack comes with 240 miles of range, a 140mph top speed and 0-60mph acceleration in just 5.3 seconds.

It follows a difficult year for the firm solving ‘production bottlenecks’ which plagued the first few months of orders.

Over the past few months, the firm has significantly ramped up orders, delivering hundreds of thousands of cars.

Just last week pictures were shared online of hundreds of Model 3s shipping worldwide, marking another milestone for the carmaker.

This follows the release of the Polestar 2 this week which is slated to be a direct rival to the Model 3.

The entry level Model 3 is expected to be able to sprint from 0-60mphin 5.6 seconds. It is also set to have a range of around 220 miles on a single charge.

There is no word on when this car will land in the UK as other variants are still yet to ship, but the car can be reserved today.

The car has the same minimality interior with the huge 15-inch landscape infotainment screen being the main feature on the dashboard.

Performance variants of the car can go from 0-60mph in around 3.5 seconds and the long range models have up to 335-miles of range on a charge.
