Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Holby City star Rosie Marcel drops HUGE hint over joining show

Rosie, 41, is best known for portraying cut throat Holby City consultant Jac Naylor on the BBC medical drama, however, the actress could soon be swapping the wards for the bright lights of Strictly Come Dancing.

This weekend, the first part of the Holby City and Casualty crossover event will begin, which sees Jac and her colleague/nemesis Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) thrown into turmoil as the hospital is struck by a terrifying cyber attack, leading to a huge decision about which of their colleagues to save with one operating theatre in operation.

Ahead of the much anticipated crossover, Rosie was joined by Casualty star Shaheen Jafargholi, 22, who plays nurse Marty on the Saturday night drama, on Lorraine to discuss the event.

However, host Lorraine Kelly, 59, couldn’t help but quiz the actress about potentially signing to a variety of reality TV programmes if she were ever to join another show.

First asking about jungle reality show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! having been heavily rumoured to sing up in the past, Rosie said: “Every year this comes up.”

Shocked by the admission Rosie could venture Down Under, Shaheen replied: “I would love to see that, I’m not going to lie.”

Rosie then responded: “It would be lovely to do, but we’ll see,” before Lorraine turned the actresses attention to possibly gracing the dance floor of Strictly.

Revealing she had never been asked to take part, Rosie admitted: “In 14 years, Strictly have never actually approached me, in the entire time I’ve been [on Holby].”

The actresses jokingly added: “I’m very upset about the whole situation,” before admitting: “Who knows? I mean anything could happen could’t it.”

Since journalist Stacey Dooley, 31, took the Strictly crown alongside professional dancer Kevin Clifton, 36, in December, the rumour mill has been in overdrive on who will be joining this year’s line-up.

Alongside Rosie, the likes of Good Morning Britain and This Morning star Martin Lewis, 46, who recently spoke out about his dancing past.

The money saving expert is set to star in the upcoming one-off special All Star Musicals, which sees seven famous faces pitted against one another to perform a spectacular routine from an iconic show.

Speaking on GMB this morning about the news of his involvement in the show, Martin said: “I’ve been asked to do all the talent shows and I’ve said no to all of them.

“This is a one off programme so it’s perfect in my life, I can actually manage to do it,” Martin continued before he revealed more about his past.

“The only frustrating thing is, secretly I can dance. I can dance properly. But I can’t sing and I’m singing and I’m not doing any dancing.

No matter which famous faces grace the dance floor when the BBC dance show returns later this year, there will be a notable absence as Pasha Kovalev, 39, has announced he won’t be returning as a professional.

However, Pasha’s news has thrown in the air the future of the remaining professionals on the show with AJ Pritchard revealing on This Morning the stars of the show would receive a phone call this month, securing their position on the show.

With Pasha out of the picture, this could give an opening for Strictly professional Neil Jones, 36,to be partnered with a celebrity in the shows regular series.

Having starred on the show since 2016, Neil was paired with his first celebrity partner during the 2018 Strictly Christmas special in which he danced with Countryfile presenter and former semi-finalist Anita Rani, 41.

Speaking about Neil’s chances of replacing Pasha, Anita recently told Express.co.uk: “I think Neil needs to be given a chance. I think it’s his time to be given an opportunity, definitely.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One.
