India-Pakistan: A GLOBAL WAR will happen if ‘world ignores MAJOR conflict’ warns expert

Following a series of violent clashes between India and Pakistan in the region of Kashmir, a political analyst has warned that the world must intervene in order to stop a global conflict. Yesterday, Pakistan claimed it had shot down two India jets that had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) between the countries and captured one of the pilots. The claim followed reports from India alleging that it had successfully bombed supposed terrorist targets in the neighbouring country.

Commenting on the current situation, political analyst Darius Shahtahmasebi told Russia Today (RT): “This is not a minor conflict the rest of the world can close its eyes to.

“It would bring in China, it would bring in Saudi Arabia, it would bring in the United States, though as a former or current ally of both adversaries, it is now unclear quite where it stands during the Trump administration.

“Either India is making a statement, posturing for its domestic population that it is doing something about Kashmir.

“Or they are actually trying to escalate the issue further because they know that eventually Pakistan will respond.”

Pakistani army officials had also stated that they had crossed into Indian territory and had carried strikes on “open ground”.

The tensions between the two neighbouring powers have escalated recently following a terrorist attack in Kashmir which killed 40 Indian troops.

A Pakistan-based terrorist group claimed responsibility for the bomb in the contested region in what was the deadliest attack to take place against Indian forces in the area for the last 30 years.

Also speaking to RT, Indian scholar Smruti S. Pattanaik: “At the moment de-escalation is not plausible.

“For any de-escalation to take place, Pakistan has to take visible action against terror groups.”

Following Mr Shahtahmasebi’s comments, Ms Pattanaik also urged global powers such as Cina to intervene in the conflict.

Specifically, she urged China – which borders both countries – to exercise influence over Pakistan.

As China has urged both to exercise restraint, Ms Pattanaik concluded that Beijing should impress on Pakistan that “terrorism as an instrument of state policy cannot be tolerated”.
