Galaxy S10 update – Samsung has already improved one of this phone's best new features

Galaxy S10 debuted last week at Samsung’s scheduled “Unpacked” event and introduced a number of notable changes over the Galaxy S9.

The South Korean OEM’s new flagship will arrive in three models when it releases on March 8 but a 5G version of the product will arrive later this year.

The most affordable version of the handset is the Galaxy S10e that forgoes some premium features in exchange for its more appealing price tag.

Galaxy S10e does not have a signature Samsung curved display, instead it arrives with a flat OLED panel from the firm.

Additionally, the product only has two rear cameras as opposed to the three present on the standard Galaxy S10 and the S10+.

S10e also places its fingerprint sensor on its lock button that allows for easy accessibility.

Meanwhile, the regular S10 and S10+ position their fingerprint readers underneath their displays.

The flagship duo employ ultrasonic technology for the process that is considered to be more secure and accurate than optical methods.

Galaxy S10’s in-display reader is easily one of the phone’s best new features.

But ahead of the flagship’s release, Samsung has released an update for the S10 it claims improves the performance of the scanner.

Originally noticed by SamMobile, the update also promises to better camera performance and includes a new feature that allows the owner to remap the hardware’s Bixby button to harness other functions.

The update’s full changelog reads:

• The stability of the camera has been improved

• The performance of fingerprint recognition has been improved

• Added feature to set the app or function which runs when the Bixby key is pressed

SamMobile also declared the upgrade enables the phone’s Instagram Mode that allows Android fans to post content to the social platform straight from the camera app.

Additionally, the outlet emphasised the update appears to have made its way to several European markets, including the UK.

However, it was noted the download appears to have not made it way to the US yet.

It is assumed the patch will either be pre-installed on Galaxy S10 devices when the phone releases or it will immediately be ready to download.

Galaxy S10 is currently available to pre-order and will release on March 8.
