Emilia Clarke: Game of Thrones star hints at 'mind blowing' scenes as she shares update

The 32-year-old actress, who has played the Mother of Dragons in the HBO fantasy drama since it began in 2011, unveiled the dramatic image of her character sitting on the throne for her 18 million Instagram followers. Hinting Game of Thrones fans could expect “mind blowing” scenes when the eighth and final season airs later this year, Emilia Clarke captioned the upload: “It’s happening people!!!! Posters are live and kicking and mamma’s got her game face on.” She also added the hashtags: “#forthethrone #holdontoyourdragonsbabycosthiswillblowyourmind.”

Fans went wild in the comments section, with one exclaiming: “Can’t wait! And so unbelievably bummed that it’s the final season.”

“I’m pumped af,”(sic) another enthused, while a third simply wrote: “Yesssss.”(sic)

A fourth commented: “Now that would be the best GoT ending I could hope for.”(sic)

The poster showed Daenerys sat on the throne, gazing straight down the lens of the camera with a stern and solemn expression.

Game of Thrones dropped 20 brand new posters depicting a host of different characters on the throne.

The pictures hark back to the first promotional image released before the first season, which showed Ned Stark (played by Sean Bean) sat wearily with his sword in his hands.

Among those seen on the throne in the new shots are Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the Night King (Vladimir Furdik).

Fans have yet to be treated to a full trailer for season eight, but have seen several short teasers.

Emilia previously opened up on saying goodbye to Daenerys after wrapping filming on season eight, telling the Daily Mail it was “like losing a limb”.

“I felt completely lost,” she said. “I was 22 — a child — when I first walked on the Game of Thrones set. I grew up with her.”

Meanwhile, at the weekend, Emilia Clarke debuted a dramatic new look at the Oscars 2019 as she dyed her hair brunette, a move away from Daenerys’ striking platinum ‘do.

She showed off her freshly dyed tresses, styled into a sharp cropped bob, on the red carpet at the start-studded event.

At the bash, she opened up on putting her Game of Thrones character behind her with the change.

“I just dyed my hair brown,” she told InStyle. “I struggled to keep my hair healthy and bright.

“After the number of years, dyeing your hair with essentially bleach… it’s incredibly strong to get that colour,” she continued. “It can’t live a lifetime like that.

“There are some fabulous shampoos and conditioners I use, but at the moment, hopefully being brown will give me my shine back, which I’m longing for because I’ve missed it so much!

“And waving goodbye to Khaleesi seems like an appropriate time to wave goodbye to my blonde hair,” Emilia added.
