The US President told reporters after summit talks were cut short in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi: “Basically, they wanted the sanctions lifted in their entirety, but we couldn’t do that. We had to walk away from it.” Mr Trump also said he hoped the conflict between India and Pakistan would come to an end soon, after the two nuclear powers clashed across a contested border in the disputed Kashmir region. The US President said he had some “reasonably” decent” news from India and Pakistan, but did not elaborate.
