This Samsung Galaxy Fold video could make the Huawei Mate X even more appealing

Galaxy Fold was recently showcased by Samsung at the firm’s Unpacked event in San Francisco.

The hardware comes with two displays; one that is positioned on its front when it is folded and the other that presents itself when the hardware is unfolded.

The cover panel for the handset is a 4.6-inch AMOLED while the main screen is a 7.3-inch AMOLED with the resolution of 1536×2152 and a density of 414-pixels-per-inch.

Galaxy Fold is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, has a triple-camera system on its rear and a 4,380mAh battery under its hood.

While the Fold was demoed on stage by the South Korean OEM, it has since released a YouTube video that has given an even better look at the device and its features.

The four-minute clip shows the hardware from a swathe of different angles.

Moreover, the Fold is also displayed in space silver, cosmos black, martian green and astro blue finishes.

The video showed the product being used in both its folded and unfolded positions.

When folded, the Galaxy flagship has huge bezels on its top and bottom.

Meanwhile, its main screen also has a very noticeable notch at the top on its right-hand side.

The cutout houses the phone’s front-facing camera system.

While the Galaxy Fold certainly looks like a premium piece of hardware in the clip, some Android fans will surely find Huawei’s Mate X more appealing after watching it.

The Huawei Mate X debuted at the firm’s MWC keynote and was immediately distinguishable for its lack of bezels and unique folding method.

Mate X does not fold on top of itself, instead it folds behind itself, meaning the device does not increase its thickness when it is folded.

Unfolded, the Mate X offers an 8-inch display that has an aspect ratio of 8:7.1 and a resolution of 2480×2200.

When the hardware is folded however, it boasts two sides to its display that are 6.6-inches and 6.38-inches in size.

The Chinese OEM’s device does not feature a notch in either position.

Folded, the hardware’s main 6.6-inch panel looks familiar to a Galaxy Note 9 with small bezels on its top and bottom.

It is worth noting the Mate X does have a side panel that houses its camera and USB-C port.

Following the Mate X’s debut, many Android fans commented in the firm’s video for the device on YouTube to praise its design when compared to the Galaxy Fold.

One said: “Best foldable by far Huawei is killing the game.”

Another wrote: “Finally the best foldable smartphone comes from Huawei not from Samsung.

“A big congratulations to Huawei.”

A third declared: “So much better than Samsung Galaxy Fold.”

Moreover, in Samsung’s new video discussing its premium device, many similarly insisted Huawei’s offering has a more appealing aesthetic.

It appears one of the biggest criticisms of the Galaxy Fold is its appearance and display size when it is being used while folded.

Such a design choice was highlighted in the firm’s new video and may push Android fans eager for an all-screen offering further towards the Mate X.
