Shadow is getting its global Netflix release this spring.

All episodes will drop on the streaming site on Friday, March 8.

The series follows an ex-cop who cannot feel any pain, taking vigilante justice intros own hands in the criminal underworld of Johannesburg.

Netflix has also just ordered another South African title, Blood & Water.

Kelly Luegenbiehl, Netflix’s vice president of international originals for Europe, Turkey and Africa released a statement about the streamer’s investment in South African talent.

“We are delighted to be investing further in African content and to partner with Nosipho and the team at Gambit Films to bring our second original series from South Africa to Netflix.

“Great stories are universal, so we expect this gripping teen drama, with its view on contemporary high school life, to appeal to young adults from South Africa, as well as the rest of the world.”

Who is in the cast of Shadow on Netflix?

Leading the cast as the titular Shadow is a 26-year-old actor from Soweto in South Africa.

Other prominent cast members include Khathu Ramabulana and Amanda du-Pont.

The series will start with Shadow pursuing justice on his own terms as he seeks to help those who are powerless to protect themselves.

The synopsis for Shadow reads: “After being struck by lightning, a young man emerges from the shadows to become Jozi’s hero.

“Giving up his badge to pursue justice for those who can’t help themselves, Shadow is Mzansi’s new vigilante.
