Emmerdale spoilers: Is Amy Wyatt returning to Emmerdale? How will she return?

ITV soap Emmerdale will be airing this evening (Wednesday, February 27) at 7pm. Emmerdale will see Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) locked in a bitter custody battle with Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) over his son Kyle. The most recent episode of Emmerdale saw Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) causing problems for her father to punish him for killing Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).

Is Amy Wyatt returning to Emmerdale?

With the storyline playing out, many fans have been asking whether Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) will be turning up in the soap again.

The short answer is yes, Emmerdale will be seeing the return of Amy Wyatt after the news was confirmed recently.

Newcomer Jamieson will be taking over the role of Amy from Chelsea Halfpenny, who was unable to return due to her other commitments.

Speaking about the return of Amy, Emmerdale boss Kate Brooks said: “Amy is in Ireland, last time we saw her she was on a ferry, so we wanted to tie it into the story we were going to play, and it just felt like Belfast was the right kind of place to visit for a bit of a jaunt for the Emmerdale family. So we thought lets go to Belfast.”

HOW DID RHONA GOSKIRK BECOME ADDICTED TO PAINKILLERS?

Brooks went on to tell the Metro: “But like with any Emmerdale storyline, there will be a lot of twists and turns. We think it will be going one way, and then it will be going another way.”

Reflecting on the return of Amy, the writer said: “Laura’s brilliant, she’s so much fun. And the thing with her is that she can just do everything, and her character’s so multi-faceted that there’s not an awful lot that we can’t throw at her, so yeah, just re-looking at that dynamic between mother and daughter is going to be brilliant, and fun as well, because Kerry’s just a whirlwind of chaos, and doing the wrong thing and making mistakes, and you always forgive her for it.

“So it’s going to be really fun to explore all of that dynamic again.”

Judging by Brooks’ words, Emmerdale will be briefly leaving the Village and heading abroad as Amy and Kerry are reunited.

IS JOE TATE REALLY DEAD?

The storyline could go either way with Amy either staying in Belfast or making a comeback at her mother’s insistence.

New actress Jamison has spoken to The Sun about joining the soap, saying: “I’m incredibly excited to meet all of the talented cast and crew at ITV’s Emmerdale.

“I feel very lucky to be joining the cast of such a loved and respected show.”

She added: “I’m very grateful for this opportunity, and can’t wait to find out what the future holds for Amy!”

Amy was on Emmerdale for three years between 2010 and 2013 before bowing out in an explosive exit story which saw her kidnapping Kyle after putting him up for adoption.

HOW ARE CAIN, CHARITY, DEBBIE AND CHAS DINGLE RELATED?

In the end, Cain managed to convince Amy to return Kyle as she fled to Ireland to escape the police.

With the custody story continuing to play out between Cain and Kerry, the story could go in any direction.

However, it looks like Kerry could deny Cain access to Kyle after Debbie had words with her.

Audiences will have to see how things play out but there could also be some awkwardness between Cain and Amy if the latter does decide to come back to the Yorkshire Dales.
