EastEnders spoilers: Janine Butcher star speaks out on return for villain

The bad girl left the BBC soap after getting away with the murder of Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd).

With Janine (Charlie Brooks) walking free, it means she and her young daughter Scarlett could return to EastEnders at any time.

But does Janine star Charlie have any plans to come back to the programme soon?

Charlie appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss her upcoming stage role with hosts Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins.

However conversation naturally turned to whether Janine could reappear in Walford.

But Charlie put the suggestion to bed as she said she had “no plans” to come back.

Charlotte asked: “The question everybody wants to know, I know you get asked it the whole time but will you be going back?”

To which Charlie responded: “You know, never say never. But no I don’t have plans to go back.

“I’ve been doing so much theatre and I’m so lucky to get these challenging characters.”

Kate then mentioned Charlie’s 14-year-old daughter Kiki, suggesting she could join the soap instead.

“If your daughters 14 isn’t it about time she went into EastEnders?” Kate joked.

Charlie exclaimed: “I know!”

“You could swap. You could get her in instead,” Kate laughed.

But Charlie said Kiki was more interested in stage acting.

Janine has got away with a lot on the programme, including murdering another husband, Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson).

In a recent interview, Charlie said she liked to think the character was somewhere sunning herself.

Speaking on Heart Radio she said: “I’m lucky because there’s great potential with her. I like to think of her as a hippy on the beach.

“She has the ability to be anyone and go anywhere.”

Even if Janine won’t be causing havoc again, the soap is soon to see some exciting comebacks, including Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky) and Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold).

EastEnders continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on BBC One.
