Death in Paradise spoilers: GMB star Kate Garraway joins cast for major new role?

Kate Garraway and her Good Morning Britain co-star Charlotte Hawkins have been in talks with Death in Paradise bosses to play a part in the show.

The 51-year-old broadcaster and Charlotte, 43, are eager to join the cast of the BBC One drama series as the programme is filmed in the Caribbean.

In fact, Kate is soon keen to star in the murder mystery series she would happily play a dead body.

Of her aspirations, she said: “I’m actually pushing to be a star on Death in Paradise.

“Charlotte Hawkins and I both fancy that as it’s in a glamorous part of the world.”

She went on to tell OK! magazine: “I would even be happy to be a dead body on that!

“The producers seem quite keen and they said to me they’d be up for it, so that’s going to be my new project!”

Former EastEnders star Richard Blackwood, 46, recently made a cameo appearance in the latest episode of the show.

While Kate is definitely making a bid to be the next celebrity on the programme, she has also been eyeing up roles in Emmerdale.

Explaining she is a huge fan of the ITV soap opera, she continued: “I’d also love to be in Emmerdale.”

“I love the countryside, so I’m pushing for that too,” the mother-of-two added.

There may be room for the journalist on both series, as Debbie Dingle star Charley Webb recently announced her pregnancy and is expected to take a break from the show later this year.

Meanwhile, Death in Paradise actress Josephine Jobert’s character Florence Cassel was seen exiting the show earlier this month.

Florence had been somewhat of a sidekick to Detective Inspector Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) but decided to leave following the death of her husband-to-be.

Joséphine, 33, left the Death in Paradise to focus on different projects and recently took to Twitter to address her exit from the show.

She wrote: “I just want to say thank you to every one of you for all your support and your kindness and for being there, simply. I’m going to miss you every Thursday.”

In another tweet, she said: “I’ll explain all of this in a few days. Don’t worry. DIP had been an amazing experience that I’ll never forget.

“And you made it possible because of all the love you brought to the show, years after years. Have a good night see you tomorrow.”

In a reply to a fan, the French actress also said that she “done [her] time on the show” and has “other projects to work on”.

Death in Paradise 2019 finale airs on Thursday, February 28 at 9pm on BBC One.
