Urgent recall: Tesco, Asda, & Lidl issue food safety fears – FULL LIST of affected foods

If you have an allergy or intolerance, you may be familiar with checking the label to see if you’re able to consume a product before buying it. However, some supermarkets have now said that a number of products may not have mentioned an ingredient on its label – which could potentially cause a problem for those who are allergic. These have been listed on the Food Standards Agency website. Should you be affected, the retailers will offer you with a refund for the item you have bought – but which products have made the list?

SlimFast – Advanced Vitality Strawberry + Blueberry Burst Meal Replacement Powder Shake Vegan

Stocked by Amazon, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, this vegan meal replacement powder was recalled by SlimFast on November 9, 2018.

That’s because it contains a milk protein which has not been disclosed on the label – therefore being a possible health risk for anyone who has an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The 450g packs have a best before date of October 2019, and the lot number of the products affected are 8291, 8292, 8293, and 8294.

Lidl – Kania Sea Salt Mills and Black Pepper Corn Mills

This England specific recall – unveiled last week – relates to the 110g Kania Sea Salt Ceramic Grinder and the 50g Kania Black Peppercorns Ceramic Grinder, available at Lidl.

These products may contain small pieces of glass, resulting in them being a safety risk.

They both have the best before date of the year 2024, with the sea salt batches possibly affected having the codes 9032AA, 9032BA, 9032CA, 9032CB, 9033AB, 9033AC, while the peppercorn version is limited to the 02/2024 variety.

Lidl – Warren & Sons Pâtés

Lidl issued this recall back in November, having realised that three varieties of this 175g Pâté had incorrect or a missing use-by date on the label.

This means that they could have been eaten past the date in which they were safe to be consumed.

The Warren & Sons Brussels Pâté, Warren & Sons Ardennes Pâté, and Warren & Sons Reduced Fat Brussels Pâté, all make the list, with the affected products either having a use by date of December 25 2019, or no date at all.

Lidl – Mister Choc Choco & Caramel Bars

This six-pack of chocolate bars may be labelled as Choco & Caramel bars, but could instead contain the brand’s Caramel Peanut bars.

Unsurprisingly, this could be a possible health risk to anyone who has an allergy to peanuts.

All batch codes are under the recall, provided they have the best before date of January 2020.

Waitrose – Chunky Battered Haddock Fish Fingers

In December last year, Waitrose issued a food recall for its 300g packs of chunky haddock fish fingers in England and Wales.

This is because the presence of large bones in the product – with the best before date November 2019 – could make them unsafe to eat.

Yorkshire Fine Cheese – Barncliffe Brie

Barncliffe Brie has been recalled due to listeria monocytogenes being found in one batch.

As a precautionary measure, customers are now being asked to return products from two further batches.

The packs comes in 200g and 1kg sizes, and have batch codes 098, 099, and 002.

Their respective best before dates are: March 4, 2019, March 6, 2019, and March 25, 2019.
