Stacey Dooley supports Kevin Clifton after he admits: 'There was something about her'

The documentary filmmaker, 31, opted for a stylish casual ensemble when she took to the red carpet at Rock of Ages earlier tonight. Dressed in wide-legged white jeans and a soft camel jumper, Stacey Dooley oozed effortless chic as she posed for photographers. She paired the look with heeled sandals and a beige shoulder bag, wearing her fiery locks in a simple down ‘do as she joined a host of Strictly Come Dancing alumni at the show to support Kevin Clifton, 36. Last year, she lifted the Glitterball trophy with the Grimsby-born professional dancer after getting him to his fifth final on Strictly.

Meanwhile, Kevin recently hinted Stacey might be his favourite celebrity partner to date as he spoke about their success on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show.

Asked about how he finally won the series, Kevin told the 52-year-old host: “I think it was Stacey.

“After the first couple of weeks, we were getting fours and fives from the judges and it wasn’t going that great,” he continued.

“And she went, ‘Oh, I’m really enjoying this, I don’t want to leave straight away. I want to stay in for as long as possible. But I realise that I’m not very good and I think we need to do more hours.’

“She just decided that she wanted to do 14-hour training days, which is harder than I’ve ever worked on Strictly,” Kevin revealed.

“We were doing eight in the morning until 10 at night training days and she just put the hours in, she really really worked hard at it.”

Gushing about Stacey, the dancer insisted: “She was brilliant and I think she was really genuine on the show — not that my other partners haven’t been. They’ve all been brilliant as well.

“I dunno, there was something about Stacey,” he added.

“She was just amazing. I think she really, really deserved it.

“She’s just really genuine and authentic, it never felt like she was trying to put up a show for anyone,” he said.

“She was just doing her best and is really, really genuine.”

Kevin’s starring role as Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages meant he wasn’t able to accompany Stacey on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, which recently concluded in London.

The musical opened earlier this month in Crawley and, tonight, Strictly stars gathered in Wimbledon to cheer Kevin on at the press night.

Alongside Stacey, Neil Jones, 35, and his wife Katya Jones, 29, Dianne Buswell, 29, and Ore Oduba, 33, were among those who took to the red carpet.

Kevin’s ex Karen Clifton, 36, also showed up to support him, looking edgy in a black pleated skirt with a band T-shirt and a blazer on top.

Also in attendance were 2017 champion Joe McFadden, 43, and The Greatest Dancer judge and Strictly pro Oti Mabuse, 28.
