OnePlus 6T successor may not fix one of the biggest problems with this phone

OnePlus 6T debuted back in October and was certainly an iterative improvement for Android fans.

That is because the handset retained largely the same design, specs and camera system as its predecessor.

With that said, the OnePlus 6T did increase the size of its screen and decrease the size of its notch in favour of a teardrop-shaped cutout.

Moreover, the flagship also positioned its fingerprint reader underneath its panel, allowing for a new and futuristic way of unlocking.

One area in which the OnePlus 6T did make a noticeable improvement over the OnePlus 6 was with regard to its battery.

The 6T arrived with a 3,700mAh capacity compared to the 3,300mAh unit on the 6.

OnePlus is renowned for its incredibly fast wired charging that allows fans to quickly power their devices.

However, the Chinese firm has never included wireless charging in its devices, an absence Express.co.uk critiqued in our review of the OnePlus 6T.

OnePlus’ decision not to include the feature comes during a time other manufacturers are not only including it, but increasing its functionality.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro was the first handset to arrive with what the firm dubbed “reverse wireless charging” that allowed the phone to recharge other products that were placed on its rear panel for instance.

But it does not appear OnePlus is eager to add the functionality to its phones, comments from the firm’s CEO have suggested.

Pete Lau was recently questioned on the matter by CNET.

In response, he said: “OnePlus charging is one of the best.

“Wireless charging is far inferior.”

While the response from the CEO does not rule out the possibility of wireless charging arriving on its devices in the near future, it does hint the firm believes the speeds offered by such a method are not quick enough at this point in time.

For this reason it may be the case the company’s next phone, the presumably-titled OnePlus 7, will similarly forgo wireless charging.

If true, this could be incredibly disappointing for some OnePlus fans.

Wireless charging has risen in popularity since Apple decided to put the feature in its iPhone range back in 2017.

Many flagships from the likes of Huawei, Samsung and Xiaomi tout the functionality.
