Morrisons go head to head with Greggs sausage roll & SLASH prices – selling theirs for 31p

Morrisons are offering the nation’s favourite pastry for £1.25 for 4, which works out to an incredible 31p per roll. This is compared to Greggs – arguably the most popular retailer for the meaty treat – who sell theirs for £2.85 for 4. This is 71p per roll. However, the Morrisons price offer is only available in stores until Sunday 3rd March, so sausage fans will have to be quick. The rolls are baked in store and served warm in the Market Street area.

Speaking about pricing, Steve Halford, Morrisons Sausage Roll Expert, said: “We know that Brits love their sausage rolls and we want to give them an opportunity to enjoy their favourite snack at prices we haven’t seen since the 1990s.”

Sausage rolls are usually a treat reserved for meat eaters – but Greggs launched a vegan version this year to much fanfare.

The Vegan Sausage Roll was introduced after a petition attracted over 20,000 signatures.

Veganuary has become increasingly popular in the UK, with 140,000 people alone pledging to go vegan for the first month of 2019.

Greggs created the non-meat roll by using a Quorn filling instead of the usual piggy offering.

Sausage rolls have soared in popularity in recent times, with a song inspired by the snack going to number one this Christmas.

LadBaby managed to make Christmas Number One with a reworked version of Starship’s We Built This City.

All proceeds from the song went to food bank charity The Trussell Trust.

Food fans are being spoiled this month, as KitKat have announced the launch of new flavours to the UK.

Green tea KitKats will be produced in Europe, Nestle has revealed.

The cult classic matcha tea Kitkat, which is green in colour, is coming to the UK.

This will no doubt excite fans of the brand.

Green tea Kitkats have been available in Japan since 2004.

The brand infuses match powder with white chocolate to create the treat.

A shocking bright green, the bar might confuse a lot of Britons with its interesting hue.
