Xperia 10 release – Sony reveals bigger screen on a much smaller budget

It’s been a busy morning for Sony with the firm revealing its all-new Xperia 1 flagship.

But there’s also something else that’s new from the Japanese technology firm which arrives in your pocket for a lot less.

The new Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus have just been announced at the firm’s Mobile World Congress press event and these devices pack a swathe of features on a much smaller budget.

For under £350 you get a sleek borderless design with a huge 21:9 Wide Full HD+ display.

Sony has opted for this very tall screen in a bid to make it more enjoyable to watch content on a phone.

The Xperia 10 has a 6-inch display whilst the Plus goes even larger with a 6.5-inch screen which can be easily split in half to use two apps simultaneously.

On the rear of these devices, you’ll find a dual-lens camera which offers all the ability to add depth of field to your photos.

Powering the Xperia 10 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor and there’s a 2870mAh battery tucked inside.

If you opt for the Xperia 10 Plus you’ll get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and a 3,000mAh battery.

The 10 arrives in Navy, Black, Silver and Pink colours with Plus available in Navy, Black, Silver and Gold.

Both phones should be available to pre-order from today from all major UK operators and retailers, including EE, Vodafone, O2, Carphone Warehouse, Virgin, Sky Mobile, and Tesco.

Prices start from as little as £19 per month for the Xperia 10, and £29 per month for the Xperia 10 Plus, with several networks offering UK exclusive deals.

If you want to buy the phones SIM-free then expect to pay £299 for the Xperia 10 and £349 for 10 Plus.

Speaking about the launch, President at Sony Mobile, Mitsuya Kishida, said: “Our super mid-range line introduces our premium Sony innovations in our most accessible way possible.

“Our new 21:9 Wide display offers edge-to-edge entertainment in a sleek and slender hand-fit design.”
