Steve Coogan net worth: The staggering amount Coogan has made from Alan Partridge

Actor Steve Coogan has portrayed comic character Alan Partridge since 1991, on radio, TV and film. The character of Partridge was the brainchild of Steve Coogan and Scottish satirist Armando Iannucci for the BBC Radio 4 spoof chat show, Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge. The later television sitcom I’m Alan Partridge told the story of Partridge’s life working for a small radio station and won two BAFTAs.

Coogan has sporadically played Partridge since the TV show, returning for a series of shorts, spoof memoirs, 2013 feature film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and several TV specials.

Now the comedy character who is a parody of British television personalities is returning to screens.

This Time with Alan Partridge is BBC One tonight at 9.30pm.

Alan Partridge is a catastrophic TV and radio presenter with an inflated ego and sense of celebrity which sees him betray others and use shameless self-promotion.

The character has been dubbed a “national treasure” by Vanity Fair and “one of the greatest and most beloved comic creations of the last few decades” by the Guardian.

According to celebritynetworth.com, Coogan has a net worth of $12million (£9.18million).

This wealth was gained over years of writing, producing and starring in both TV shows and films.

As well as playing Alan Partridge, the actor has appeared in Night at the Museum (2006) and Philomena (2013).

More recently he starred in Stan and Ollie (2018) a film about comedy duo Laurel and Hardy in which Coogan portrays Stan Laurel alongside John C Reilly’s Oliver Hardy.

To prepare for his upcoming TV show, Alan Partridge has emailed everyone who works for the BBC to let them know of his first presenting gig in 24 years.

This Time with Alan Partridge is a parody of The One Show, and Partridge will star as the stand-in-host of the show.

In his emailPartridge says that despite dramatic exit from the BBC, he is back and “it’s time for a clean slate and no hard feelings”.

He added: “Some of you made clear when I left that I wouldn’t be welcome back; a woman who worked in compliance called Karen or Kate or Kath who had long wavy hair and apparently still works here sneered so hard I thought her face would turn inside out.

“But back I am, as evidenced by this, my own official BBC email address.

“And with it I reach out to you, my colleagues – not to gloat, or settle old scores, or say, ‘Hey, Karen/Kate/Kath, why don’t you kiss my a**e’ – but to be the bigger man and clear the air of any residual stench.”

This Time with Alan Partridge is on screens tonight at 9.30pm.
