Neighbours spoilers: Toadie Rebecchi breaks down as Sonya makes heartbreaking plea

Toadie (played by Ryan Maloney) has already been struggling to come to terms with Sonya’s (Eve Morey) ovarian cancer diagnosis earlier this year on Neighbours and a recent trailer has already shown viewers of the Channel 5 soap a glimpse of the character’s final moments.

However, along with teasing the end of Sonya’s devastating cancer plot, the trailer also showed the relationship drama’s unfolding with Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) and Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta), as well as Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) waking from his coma.

Ahead of the heartbreaking scenes set to play out next week, the Australian soap has released yet another trailer showing Sonya and Toadie coming to terms with the devastating news they have received about Sonya’s health.

The trailer begins with Sonya a shell of her former self due to the effects of the cancer, looking round at the neighbourhood she has called home for the past 10 years.

Accompanying the scenes is a message, which reads: “If you had one day left, how would you live it?” before the trailer cuts to Sonya and Toadie in their car.

Sonya is heard asking Toadie: “Take me to the kids, sweetie,” with her husband in floods of tears having heard his wife only has days left to live.

Little do either of them know Sonya will pass away on the same day as the couple head to the beach with their children so Sonya can enjoy what will be her final few hours.

As the couple continue to shed tears, knowing their time together is short, Sonya tells Toadie: “I’m sorry.

“I’m sorry I’m not going to be here for you,” she adds tearfully before Toadie takes his wife in his arms as they sit on the beach.

Coming to a close, the voiceover is heard saying: “It’s time to say goodbye to Sonya.”

Speaking of the scenes she and Toadie star Ryan Maloney, 39, actress Eve Morey, 35, explained how they scenes were the most “devastating” she has had to film during her time on the Australian soap.

Eve told Express.co.uk earlier this year: “These scenes were the most devastating things to film. It was awful.

“When we get told Sonya has cancer and it’s stage four and we’re going to do what we can to fight it, it’s awful and I mean nothing has come before this.

“Ryan and I could hardly film the stuff, it was just awful.

“It’s hard stuff to watch but also to watch two people who love each other this much have to deal with something like this I think is quite interesting and quite beautiful to watch.”

Sonya’s story has had an effect on many residents of Ramsay Street, no more than Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) who have reunited following the news.

Terese had been dating Paul’s son Leo Tanka (Tim Kano) but after hearing about Sonya’s diagnosis, having had breast cancer some years ago and several other factors, Terese realised she wanted to be with her former lover.

With the two set to remain committed to one another following weeks of uncertainty, Paul could make a big gesture to show how much he loves Terese in upcoming scenes.

Speaking about the couple’s future on the soap, actress Rebekah Elmaloglou, 45, told Express.co.uk: “It’s never going to be smooth and who knows what will happen down the track, whether there will be wedding bells.

“Who knows? At this stage I think people are very excited to have Paul and Terese together.”

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5
