Huawei took the laptop market by storm when it released the MateBook X Pro last year.
The hardware was premium, offered fast performance and certainly had the best display on a portable computer.
We loved the MateBook X Pro at Express.co.uk and called it “one of the most innovative laptops of 2018” in our full review.
This outlet said: “The hardware offers incredibly thin bezels that offer a commendably immersive viewing experience overall with very little compromises in terms of performance.
“Huawei’s laptop has become our first choice for getting work done on the go and the Chinese firm should be applauded to putting together such an industry-leading device.
“If you are a Windows 10 fan looking for a laptop upgrade, the MateBook X Pro is one of the best options available right now.”
But at MWC 2019 the Chinese tech giant has refreshed the hardware; adding improved internals, more storage and a new sharing system.
Moreover, Huawei has also claimed the product’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities have been improved in addition to its Thunderbolt 3 port.
The new MateBook X Pro comes with either an 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8265U or i7-8565U processor which the firm insists should offer 10 percent faster performance than the outgoing MateBook X Pro unit.
One of the biggest new features offered by the laptop comes with what the tech behemoth is calling “Huawei Share” that allows users to transfer items between Huawei devices and the computer.

Huawei told Express.co.uk the NFC system that allows for the speedy file sharing is housed within a sticker on the new laptop itself.
This means when a compatible smartphone is placed on the sticker, a file transfer can take place.
Sharing photos, video and more is as easy as loading up the relevant files and placing a Huawei device on the laptop itself.
The process of file transferring is very similar to that already offered by Apple with its AirDrop functionality.
However, Huawei appears to be placing a heavy emphasis on the physical motion involved to achieve the process.
The new Chinese laptop also offers greater support for gestures; screenshots can be taken by swiping down on the display with three fingers for instance.
The new MateBook X Pro is certainly an iterative improvement over the previous model; the hardware retains the same gorgeous design and display that was incredibly popular with us at Express.co.uk.
Unfortunately, the laptop’s front-facing camera remains underneath the Pro’s keyboard, meaning it still offers an unflattering view of the user when it is summoned.
In addition to the MateBook X Pro, Huawei is also bringing its MateBook 13 laptop to European markets.
The MateBook 13 was announced at CES in Las Vegas at the start of the year and retains a very familiar aesthetic and design to its more premium brother.
However, the hardware makes a few compromises in order to achieve a slightly lower price tag.
First and foremost, the 13 comes with a slightly lower resolution and screen-to-body ratio when compared to the Pro.

The hardware is also slightly thicker than the MateBook X Pro but is actually lighter.
But, Huawei is still insisting the MateBook 13 remains thinner than Apple’s MacBook Air.
MateBook 13 does come with either an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 or i5 and Huawei claims the device’s battery should be able to last 9.1 hours in a “typical office environment”.
The MateBook 13 comes with the same Huawei Share functionality as the Pro, meaning files can be shared with ease.
Finally, Huawei is also pitching its new MateBook 14 as a more accessible laptop when compared to its Pro unit.
As the name suggests, the MateBook 14 has a 14-inch display that has a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio.
Although the hardware is slightly thicker and expectedly larger overall than the MateBook X Pro, it still feels decidedly premium and has Huawei features fans have come to expect like a built-in fingerprint scanner.

Unfortunately, at its MWC press conference attended by Express.co.uk, Huawei only discussed European pricing for the new laptops.
The new MateBook X Pro will start at €1,599 but will rise to €1,999 if Huawei fans want the top-tier version of the product.
Meanwhile, the MateBook 14 starts at €1,199 for the model with an 8th-generation Intel Core i5.
However, the variant that has a Core i7 will cost €1,499.
Finally, the Huawei MateBook 13 starts at €999 for the entry-level model with an Intel Core i5 and 256GB of storage.
But the laptop climbs to €1,399 for those that want it with an Intel Core i7 and 512GB of storage.
