Last week’s episode of Death in Paradise saw the arrival of Detective Sergeant Madeleine Dumas (Aude Legastelois) on Saint Marie.

The young French detective was over from Paris to investigate following the shooting of Florence Cassel.

Her presence left many fans worried that Jack would be fired from his job.

However, following his solving of the murder of radio legend Dezzie Dixon (Terence Maynard) much to Madeleine’s awe, he appeared to be secure in his role.

A promo for the finale has now shown Jack on a Skype call to his daughter Siobhan (Grace Stone).

Viewers then saw Jack sit in front of his computer having a worrying conversation with his daughter.

“Is everything alright?” He is heard asking to which she replies: “Not great.”

She seems quite upset, even in the brief snippet of footage, suggesting something serious is going on.

Following that, Jack is seen standing in front of Commander Patterson explaining: “I need to step away from the case, sir.”

The comedian spoke to Digital Spy easier this month and mentioned that he suspected he could possibly be replaced on the show.

He told the publication: “I’m sure that conversation is going on right now. ‘Why not get rid of that guy, and get in a woman?’

“I think the show has proved, over the years, with its enduring popularity, that it can survive all sorts of changes. I think it’s very, very possible.”
