PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch treated to new games from Pokemon developers?

Game Freak is launching one of their latest titles on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this year.

2019 will see the release of Giga Wrecker in a bundle that will offer new features to enjoy.

The Pokemon developer revealed the news earlier this year, confirming just the second game released on PS4 and Xbox One by the famous studio.

The Nintendo Switch, meanwhile, is set to see plenty of new games from Game Freak in the coming years.

Originally made for PC, Giga Wrecker is a positively reviewed 2D action adventure game where you can manipulate debris and explore a world invaded by an army of evil robots.

Rising Star Games is publishing the console version which will be named Giga Wrecker Alt.

And a recent update on the new project appears to hint that Game Freak could launch more projects like this in the future.

Speaking to Gamespot, members of the Game Freak confirmed that they were open to making a sequel.

However, the chance of this happening will be down to how well received Alt is on consoles, with nothing in active development right now.

So while fans can’t expect to see the Pokemon developer porting over any famous exclusives from a Nintendo device, there’s a chance more games from the famous studio could make it to the PS4 and Xbox.

Tembo the Badass Elephant was released in 2015 and remains the only other Game Freak title available on the Sony and Microsoft gaming machines.

Giga Wrecker Alt will be different to the current PC version, adding 20 additional puzzle stages to its campaign.

It will also add a new companion character to assist players with the game’s increasingly challenging puzzles, and an “Ironman” mode with 5 times the damage than the regular mode.

Alt will overhaul the original localisation to enhance the user experience, bringing with it 11 in-game languages, including Italian and Traditional Chinese.

“Giga Wrecker was brought to life through Game Freak’s internal “Gear Project” where its developers are encouraged to come up with intriguing ideas for games outside the company’s normal,” the game description reads.

“The game also features music by video game composer, Shinji Hosoe, known for Ridge Racer and Tekken, among many other titles.”

Giga Wrecker Alt will remain a largely digital release on consoles; however, there are plans for a physical launch too.

This has been confirmed as being available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch only and will be done through a partnership with Limited Run Games.

Game Freak are of course working on another very high-profile project that will only be available on Nintendo Switch.

A new Pokemon game for the mainline series has a release window set for the second half of 2019.

This is expected to be a massive console seller for Nintendo, who launched a revamped Let’s Go Pokemon spinoff game in 2018.
