Huawei Mate X launch LIVE – UK release, price, specs and more REVEALED

Huawei has officially announced the Mate X, its first foldable phone.

The device is most distinguishable for its minimal bezels that surround each panel.

The Mate X comes with an 8-inch display when it is unfolded and a 6.6-inch front screen when it is folded.

When folded, the hardware also has a 6.38-inch display on its rear.

Huawei has emphasised the phone’s hinge has over 100 components inside it.

Moreover, the firm has also claimed the Mate X is thinner than the new iPad Pro and Galaxy Fold when it is folded.

The Mate X was said to be 11millimetres thick when folded.

Powering Huawei’s new futuristic hardware is the firm’s Kirin 980 processor, the same as is present inside the Mate 20 Pro.

A Balong 5000 modem is also housed inside the hardware and allows the X to deliver 5G network speeds.

A 4,500mAh battery powers the Mate X and Huawei is confident it should deliver capable life for users.

The firm also introduced a new 55W SuperCharge fast charging feature it claims can give the Mate X 85 percent of power in just 30minutes.

Huawei Mate X has a triple camera system on one side of the device that is thicker than the rest of it.

The trio of sensors act are intended to be used for both traditional shots and selfies.

This particular section features the phone’s USB-C socket.

Huawei Mate X comes in a single blue colour that has 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The device costs an eye-watering 2,229 euros (£1,997.49) and will release in “mid-2019”.

Huawei frequently compared its new foldable handset to others on the market, such as that from Samsung.

The South Korean OEM unveiled the Galaxy Fold at the firm’s recent Unpacked event.

The product comes with a 7.3-inch display when it has been unfolded and a 4.6-inch panel when folded.

The latter is most noticeable for its thick bezels that sit on its top and bottom when it is in such a position.

Moroever, when in tablet mode, the Fold also has a notch in one of its corners that houses it front-facing camera system.
