24: Wooosh! First shot of the afternoon goes the way of Aguero. Hardly a surprise. Bernardo floats a diagonal cross over to the Argentine, who chests it down before swivelling and volleying over the crossbar.
21: Pep Guardiola with an early rendition of Saturday Night Fever on the sidelines. He’s not happy with the tempo from his side and wants things quickened up. City will have to show patience today.

18: Luiz won’t be receiving a thank you note for that backpass to Kepa. The goalkeeper wasn’t expecting it and Sergio Aguero nearly intercepted. Few nerves about this Chelsea defence. Understandably so.
15: This is the very definition of attack vs defence. Chelsea have barely ventured into Manchester City territory other than a couple of darting runs.
13: I lost count of the number of passes City just completed before David Silva failed to bring Fernandinho’s through pass under his spell. Nice on the eye but Pep Guardiola’s side aren’t quite at their ruthless best.
10: Big call! David Luiz arrows a long ball forward and N’Golo Kante goes down under a challenge from Oleksandr Zinchenko, who was the last man. Referee Jon Moss takes a look… no foul given.
7: City with over 70 percent possession in the early stages. Not really a surprise because Chelsea have learned their lesson from the 6-0 thrashing and have opted to sit deep.

5: Worst nightmare realised for Chelsea fans with Eden Hazard starting in the ‘false 9’ position. Willian and Pedro are flanking the Belgian international, and will have their work cut out to support him.
3: WHAT?! Well drama from literally the first second here at Wembley as Jorginho catches Sergio Aguero straight from the kick off. It looked like an elbow as Aguero lays flat on the turf.
Referee Jon Moss checked with VAR whether that was an elbow but the Italian midfielder isn’t penalised. Quickest foul in cup final history?

1: I tell you what… these City fans aren’t half making some noise. I’ve heard that there’s been some trouble outside – so it could take a while for the rest of the stadium to fill up.

‘We can do better that 6-0’
16:23: I should hope so, Maurizio!
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri on Sky Sports: “We lost 6-0 to City but since then we have played every three days so it is very difficult to work on the team. We have tried to improve.
“Two months ago we won against them but we played with a very high level of application, in Manchester we played a superficial match and lost 6-0. We know we can do better than that.”

I was a little preoccupied with events at Old Trafford and the fella supposed to be covering this match has come down with a serious case of ‘I-wanted-to-attend-the-game-itus…’

16:15: John Stones and Gabriel Jesus aren’t fit enough to be involved for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final with Chelsea.
Stones (groin) and striker Jesus (hamstring) are still not fit after missing the midweek Champions League win at Schalke.
Ederson is named in goal, having not featured in any of the previous rounds.
Eden Hazard starts in a ‘false nine’ position for Chelsea.
Kepa Arrizabalaga returns in goal after missing the Europa League game against Malmo while Emerson is named at left-back.

CHELSEA vs MANCHESTER CITY
Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is a doubt for today’s Carabao Cup final with Manchester City due to a hamstring injury.
Willy Caballero could deputise against his former club if Kepa, who missed Thursday’s Europa League win over Malmo, is not deemed fit.
David Luiz, Eden Hazard, Gonzalo Higuain and Marcos Alonso did not play against Malmo but should come into the side at Wembley, while full-back Davide Zappacosta and winger Pedro could be in the squad following illness.
Manchester City have doubts over John Stones, Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph.
Defender Stones (groin) and striker Jesus (hamstring) will both be assessed after missing the midweek Champions League win at Schalke.
Defender Mendy continues to struggle with a knee problem and midfielder Delph has had a number of niggles and suffered illness in recent weeks. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo (Achilles) is out long term.
