Carabao Cup prize money: How much will winner of Chelsea vs Man City earn?

The first domestic prize of the season is up for grabs in the capital today with City clear favourites.

The clash comes just two weeks after Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Chelsea 6-0 at the Etihad in the Premier League.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is under immense pressure, but a win at Wembley is likely to ease that.

And with the Premier League title out of Chelsea’s reach, today’s final represents a good chance of getting a trophy in the cabinet.

But it doesn’t give much else with the winning team receiving just £100,000 in prize money today.

That’s a shockingly low amount when compared to the winners of the FA Cup.

The victors in that tournament pick up £3.6million.

Indeed, all those that progressed through the third round pocketed more than the winners of today’s final get.

But that doesn’t mean that City or Chelsea will take today’s encounter any easier.

Guardiola could lead City to an unprecedented quadruple this season with the club also thriving in the Champions League and FA Cup and battling at the top of the Premier League.

“How many times in England, one team wins four titles in one season?” Guardiola said.

“Don’t put that pressure on our shoulders because we don’t deserve it.

“First for the club we are, for the history.

“Sir Alex Ferguson’s incredible United? He never did it. Liverpool, in the Eighties, how many Champions Leagues they have in their pockets? They didn’t do it.

“So don’t put the pressure on one team in February or November or December. You have to win four titles – it is impossible. In May, we will see.

“Once we are in the final, tomorrow is the most important game in the season.

“You won something or nothing or whatever, so we know the Premier League is the most important one, the Champions League, the Cup, it is what it is. The Carabao Cup is the most important game by far.

“It will be an incredibly tough game for [Chelsea] and us, and of course we want to win it.”
