Bohemian Rhapsody WINS THREE awards at Oscars 2019 in huge victory: ‘Truly an honour’

The film has been victorious in the Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing fields, beating the likes of Roma, A Quiet Place, Black Panther and First Man. It has also been victorious in Best Editing. Those who worked on the sound of the film all thanked Brian May and Roger Taylor in the audience, while editor John Ottman gave a shout-out to the late Freddie Mercury. Will the film end up being the big success story of the night?

“This truly is an honour,” John Warhurst said. “Especially in a category with so many amazing sounding films.

“Working on Bohemian Rhapsody really was an honour, we got to work with Queen for our day job!

“I’d like to thank Queen and the full team, for the great music. And a special nod to Freddie as well.”

Bohemian Rhapsody has seven nominations all in all – with two still to be decided on.

John Ottman said as he collected Best Editing: “Freddie Mercury kind of brought us all together.

“I’m so thankful for everyone coming together and trusting me. There’s too many people to thank.

“I’m looking at Rami… thank you Brian May, Roger Taylor. Thank you the hardest working producers I’ve ever worked with in my life.”

In what is a big night for the film, Queen opened the show with a rip-roaring performance.
