If fans thought Kylo was bad before, things are going to get a whole lot worse. New leaks claim JJ Abrams is making the conflicted Skywalker take a “far darker path” and he will be viewed as a totally different character from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. This is for the man who already killed his own father, helped destroy the new republic and wiped out all the rebels except one plucky ship. It sounds ominously like the total transition from Anakin to Vader. Kylo will embrace his growing terrifying image and embrace one new name which confirms the very worst fears hinted at in Episode 6.
Star Wars fans know by now to take all leaks with a large dose of salt, but this all lines up with the plotlines which had been set in place in The Force Awakens.
The leak said: “Kylo Ren will have many scenes where he is looked up to by The First Order as the Supreme Leader but he will also be called ‘The Jedi Killer’ by some of the ne characters.
“One of the new descriptions goes over Kylo in fornt of all six Knights (of Ren) surrounded by dead bodies with huts on fire. The sequence is described as ‘The Jedi Killer and his followers draw a path of darkness.’ It is said Kylo developed this name by telling everyone what he did to Skywalker and his Jedi Temple.”
This would then confirm Rey’s Forceback vision did show Kylo and his newly formed Knights slaughtering Luke’s disciples, who at that time were the only known remaining Jedi.
“It is also said there will be a village on a desert world where the creatures view Kylo as a frightening legend. They also call him the Jedi Killer in the movie.”
This is a powerful counterbalance to the concept of Luke as a myth in The Force Awakens. It is expected Luke’s sacrifice will be used by the Resistance to rally allies and inspire hope and Kylo may now use his own myth (and the echo of Vader) in the same way.
It should also be noted that ‘The Jedi Killer’ was one of Abrams’ original monikers and ideas for Kylo in Episode 6. Whether or not purported leaks are simply retooling old snippets ofinformation, they throw up interesting concepts that make a lot of sense in the absence of any official word from the filmmakers.
Of course, our heroes should remember that even Leia has a very similar and chilling name among some races…
Other earlier leaks reported Leia’s plan to rally eallies nd mercenaries: “The Hutts are to be involved but will refuse at first and want nothing to do with the Hutt-slayer.”
This refers to the iconic moment when Leia was being held as a slave by Jabba the Hutt in The Return of the Jedi and takes her own chains and uses them to strangle the crime lord to death. Claudia Gray’s Star Wars novel Bloodline revealed that the Alderan princess is now notorious throughout the underbelly of the galaxy as the ”Huttslayer”, a nickname give her by the Nikto, a race often employed as enforcers by the Hutt clan.
