Sky TV update – As prices set to rise there's an ultimate deal that will cut your bill

There’s been good and bad news for Sky customers this week.

The satellite TV firm has just announced that some prices will rise from April with Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and broadband users facing the hike.

Speaking about the price rise, a Sky spokesperson, said: “We try to keep costs down and provide greater choice for our customers to pick the package that best suits them.

“We know price increases are never welcome, but we hope customers can see that our innovation, great content and our industry leading customer service provide good value.”

However, although this rise might not be the most popular announcement there is some better news from Sky.

The firm has just revealed a price cut to one of its most popular bundles which could actually save customers a total of £180.

The offer, which Sky says is only for a limited time, brings Sky Entertainment & Sports to your living room for £35 per month – a saving of £10 off the usual price.

This deal, which lasts for 18-months, includes all of the biggest sporting channels plus over 300 Entertainment channels, including Sky Atlantic.

If you opt for this bundle you’ll also get access to the new Sky Q box although it’s worth noting that this deal only includes the standard 1TB and not the more feature-packed 2TB device.

If you want that option, which allows you to record more shows at once and view content in full 4K resolution, you’ll need to pay an upfront fee of £199 rather than the £20 standard installation fee.

There’s no word on when this deal comes to an end but it’s worth checking your current contract to see if you switch to a cheaper option than face Sky’s incoming price increase.

If you are tied to a current deal then here’s who will be affected by the rise and how much the prices will go up by.

Here’s all the new pricing

Sky Cinema is increasing by £1 from £10 to £11 (if a customer is already in-contract, it won’t increase)

Sky Entertainment is increasing by £2 from £20 to £22

Sky Broadband will increase by £1, across all packages

Sky Fibre Broadband will increase by £2 across all packages

Sky Q Multiscreen is increasing by £1 from £12 to £13

Sky Talk Evening and Weekends will increase by £1 from £4 to £5

Sky Talk Anytime will increase by £2 from £8 to £10

Not all products are increasing – Sky Sports, Sky Go, Sky Box Sets, Sky HD, Sky Voicemail, Talk International, in-contract Sky Cinema and Sky Kids will not be increasing in price.
