Gogglebox 2019: ‘Bring her back’ Viewers in turmoil over major cast change

Gogglebox returned to Channel 4 tonight with the highly anticipated 13th series and viewers tuned in to see a brand new episode.

Whilst several of the familiar families were back on television screens there were some new additions to the cast.

And those watching at home were quick to take to social media about Stephen Webb’s new partner on his sofa.

For the last couple of series, Stephen has been joined by his mum Pat to take part in the reality show.

But tonight saw Stephen joined by husband Daniel Lustig and viewers weren’t very happy about the sudden change.

One Tweet read: “Where’s Stephen’s mum? #Gogglebox,” whilst another added: “Where’s Pat? I loved her and Stephen! #Gogglebox #bringbackpat.”

“Sorry Stephen, I think I preferred Pat #Gogglebox,” someone chimed as another fan of the show said: “Ohh, mummy Pat has gone (no disrespect to Daniel though) #Gogglebox.”

“Bring back Steve’s mum! #Gogglebox,” a viewer demanded.

Some however loved the new addition with as someone wrote: “Loving Stephen and his husband already! #Gogglebox.”

“Already love Stephen & his husband #Gogglebox.” another commented.

Stephen’s mum Pat took over from Chris Butland-Steed, who Stephen was originally cast with for the show.

The pair were a firm fixture on Gogglebox since series one, having also been in a relationship off screen.

But having split up, the pair found it difficult to work together and therefore Chris left the show.

Stephen’s mum Pat replaced Chris and a source previously told the Sun: “It’s a big move by the producers.

“Chris is the biggest star to leave the show since Scarlett Moffatt. Stephen has sorted out a deal with the producers. He can carry on appearing in the show with his mum.”

Last July, Stephen married his new partner Daniel and now the pair can be seen in this series of Gogglebox.

Alongside Daniel’s appearance, viewers also saw another family join the Channel 4 cast.

The voice over man said: “Meet the Lampards,” made up of a mum and her two daughters based in Essex.

Nevertheless, many viewers were pleased to see their favourite show back on television.

Gogglebox returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
