Anthony Davis trade: LeBron James agent should be FIRED after Lakers trade collapse

That is the view of NBA expert Tas Melas.

Melas believes that Davis parting ways with his agent would show that he is trying to rescue and repair his public image after he failed to secure a move to the Lakers.

The New Orleans Pelicans star demanded a move away from the franchise before the trade deadline.

But the Pelicans decided to hold off from agreeing a deal, instead opting to wait until the summer when the Boston Celtics and other teams can enter the bidding war.

Despite several offers from the Lakers, the Pelicans stood firm and forced Davis to stay for the rest of the season at least.

Davis reportedly had a list of four teams that he wanted to be traded to, including the Lakers, Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks.

But after the move failed to materialise, Davis’ public image has suffered, and Melas believes something has to be done.

Davis is represented by Rich Paul, the same agent as LeBron James, and the pundit explained that the mogul is at fault for the debacle.

“He is acting like he got off scot-free from the trade deadline,” he said.

“He has to rehabilitate his image to some degree, and some of it is on Klutch sports. You can’t screw up like that.

“I do think that Klutch sports got off a little scot-free in this.

“They were the ones that put out this public trade request.

“Anthony Davis said it wasn’t a public trade request, but a reporter called and asked Rich Paul, and he [Paul] said it was a public trade request.

“Whether that happened or not, Klutch sports shouldn’t come out of this cleanly either.

“But AD, I don’t know if he’s got to fire Klutch Sports, but someone has to clear all this up.

“I guess it was kind of clearing it up with the 29 teams comment, but it isn’t really, because everyone knows LA was his number one focus, so it’s not clearing up.

“If you fire your agent, that could be clearing it up, that would be saying ‘hello, LeBron, I’m stepping up to you’.”
